View Full Version : Color for Repaint?

I am getting ready to have my 99 Solar Yellow RT repainted due to a little bumpup. I want to change the color a little, maybe just something a little brighter or maybe some yellow or orange pearl. Just curious what colors have been used and if anyone has any pics.

try house of kolor paints. probably the best in the industry from what ive seen.

Agreed, tangelo pearl looks real nice. However, (I'm not entirely sure about this) doesn't pearl paint have a different appearance than a metallic paint?

Ya my paint guy explained this to me once....I hope i get this right...

Pearl paint has a material that reflects light (like metallic) but also allows some of the light to pass through and reflect back from the surface below. The light reflected may be un-obstructed, or may pass through another particle of pearl, adding the illusion of depth, and altering the hue.

Metallic paints are made with the addition of crushed aluminum and/or mica, and do not let light pass through, so you only get the light reflecting off the flakes.

So pearlescent paints will reflect more of the color of the paint it's in, and slightly change the hue of the paint at different angles. Metallic paints just reflect light and not the color of paint they're in

If you touch up these paints, the metallic and pearls will look more condensed, since there is no air behind the painting process, thus making the area touched up darker sometimes almost black.

Stay close to the original color. I did a color change on my old stang and it was never just right. The guy did a great job, but still there are always the places the paint did not get too and chips show the othere color if they are real deep. Go-man-co is a bad ass color.
