well it's not recomended because an a/c system has no drag when not in use and only weighs @40 LBS total. It also takes away resale value from your truck...............Let alone I'm not a big fan of sweating. But here's how to as requested by downboi.
1.remove the upper a/c and alternator brackets, a/c hoses, accumulator (aluminum cylinder) and the condensor (front a/c radiator shaped deal)
2. From a suitable donor truck you'll need an alternator bracket, and hvac controls. If you intend on removing the evaporator (heater box element) add @6 hours and you'll also need the heater box from a donor vehicle so @4 hours to safely remove it from a junk yard truck. Alot of undue work to remove @3lbs of weight.
3. install the new bracketry in the reverse process of removal from the donor truck. This way you should never have a problem finding a belt as it's a stock item.
When done the only way to tell if it was an a/c equipt truck is that you'll still have two small pipes poking through the firewall.
You could also just go to autozone and buy a r134a retrofit kit and enjoy the cool air someone paid an extra 1000.00 for when they bought the truck.

Thanks a lot. friggin awesome, so i only have to get that other stuff if i want it to look like it never had AC to begin with? Well i dont even have a junk yard in the city i live and the closest one is run by a bunch of chicken farmers who dont know crap about anything. But thanks again, like i already asked three times though, do i have to take the Radiator off to take the condensor off.

Well I wish you luck on uninstalling your A/C. I still dont understand why you want to remove it but if you insist on removing it then so be it. I would just have it recharged and its already 134a which is inexpensive to refill. Hell you gonna take off 500 dollars of the resale value of your Dakota just by removing it. If your removing it for Drag Racing the just save your money and buy a short belt for a NON A/C Dakota and run it that way. Its only going to give you a gain of approx .10 in ET if your lucky. And look at this way when you do resale it. Its gonna give you back that 500 dollars in resale value. This is my opinion and you dont have to take it.

thanks for ur opinion. Its not really for drag racing. I havent run it on a strip yet but i plan on it when i move to Alabama. I dont ever plan on selling my truck, EVER! Im in love with this thing  . But i figure i dont like AC, it doesnt work, i can make some money off of selling the pieces, and itll clean up under the hood. Right now im having trouble disconecting some of the hoses :cussing: But im going to do this regardless. Plus i think itll allow more air straight to the radiator and itll help with cooling.

I didn't know it was a 96....send me your old a/c parts when you take them off. I could use stuff with the 134 fittings already. My a/c was one of the few things that worked when I got it, I'm pretty lucky considering it's an r12 system. The radiator will have to be pulled back but you won't have to dump your coolant. Just take the fan off and unbolt the shroud-tip the radiator back and pull the condensor out. This should at least get you a little more airflow through the radiator. While you're doing this you should do an electric fan conversion-look around on this site to find a write up on that. Not only will you have a much quieter engine but you'll pick up some seat of the pants hp too.

Actually i found out that taking the grill off (5 screws) that i can just take it off from the front, since the screws are in the front too. Right now im having trouble disconnecting some of the hoses like the two that go up towards the grill and connect to the condensor. What would u like from the AC components. Im actually trying to make some money off these parts, so yeah.

the bumper runs too close up front but you can do it that way. You may have to pull the bumper loose. I'm broke right now I was just fishing for freebies, don't toss them because I'd be interested in the whole lot of parts. I'm pretty much tapped on my expendable income due to the remnants of "Katrina"

yeah, im pretty broke right now too, thats why im trying to make money off of anything. Id be willing to give u the compressor for free since i dont even think it works, u would just have to pay shipping. And ACTUALLY, theres like four inches of space between the bumper and the condensor, theres just this one piece of metal that runs from the middle of the top of the grill, down underneath the condensor, but other than that, itll come right out :biggthump
