Hey, I am also looking for a 160* t-stat. I see that you sell 180's. Can you get a 160? If not its fine but figured I would try to support you before going to a big company like summit.
thanks,
Stuart

I can better help if I have part numbers... If your planning to purchase from summit, I assume they have the part your looking for... Who makes it and whats the part number... I can use this to price match or even price beat when ever possible.

Just called jegs. They don't have it on their website but they have a hypertec 160* for 11.99 (he had to search for a 2000 for some reason a 2001 wouldn't come up if it makes a difference)
part number :
533-1012

EDIT: Looked that one up too. It is for the 5.9. Looks like they don't make one for the 4.7 anymore.

I don't think a 160 would be a good choice either way. Your oil actually performs better when its 180 and above... 160 is too cold in my opinion. Also if your engine is computer operated you would have other secondary issues to deal with due to the 160 temp.... and this is also assuming your cooling system is capable of maintaining a 160 deg temp.

i did a hypertec 160 stat but also did hypertec chip set for 160 temp in a chebby 350; 180 is better for oil. ...blkjak :D

you will possibly get a "check eng" light if you run a 160* t-stat...and then when it comes on. system will probably remain in open loop...thus causing emissions to be higher and it will de-grade the cat sooner. computer controlled vehicles are designed to run at temps they were designed for...altering the temps will alter emissions, fuel economy, and it will also promote engine wear faster than normal

A drop to 180*F MIGHT turn the light on at prolonged idle with the heater on in cold weather, but its not very common. The one thermostat I saw that is 180*F for the 4.7 is a JET and has the blocker on it. IMO, it is WELL worth it for our 4.7s. I feel these trucks run too hot stock and I know the PCM pulls timing at 205*+ compared to 180*F. Not to mention the underhood temperature will be lower and it will give lower IAT temps. All of this will keep the PCM from retarding as much timing and pulling as much fuel, giving you more HP and TQ. It will prolong the way the truck feels in cooler weather.
