Normally people with regular cabs mount them in the bed.

Ive mounted mine behind the passanger seat before. I have a 98 reg cab. All you have to do bang down the jack tabs and remove all the jack stuff. Then mount your brackets. The bottle fits fine just butt it up to the wall and then push the seat back and recline the seat. You will loose some leg room but its not that big of a loss.
