I know what the 6-pack looks like in general and have seen them installed on a handful of trucks over the years (Bruce/Sam/etc.), but I'd like to see Robert's engine bay! :banana2:

Robert,
If I had some pics of your truck, I would have them on my website... I am very glad that the system is happening for you. The tuning of the Mag 6bbl isnt near as easy as the FAST or BS3 systems weve installed. Did SCT get the job done? If you ever need anything re: upgrade (yours was actually a prototype...) please holler! Heres a couple pics of my DARTCC with the 6bbl setup. Finally got a new transmission!! Now I need the ol SCT tuneup.

Hey Bruce. I was an idiot and forgot to put my airhat nut back on after removing the filter over the weekend and I lost it. Was sitting on the wiper cowl while I was driving. Using my stock airhat nut for now, but is there a chance i can get a new billet F&B airhat nut if you have any??

Ever do a 6bbl shaker setup?

BKBridges
03-27-2009, 01:55 AM
The 6bbl systems put the air intake in the "stock" location for all the old school Mopars, so for them, Shaker is easy. I havnt done a Dakota shaker but Im pretty sure its doable. An offset fiberglass base sized to a Dakota shaker should work. The center TB is pretty close to the stocker location 5.9 wise...

Thats a good topic:
Air hats vs. Airhat nut design. We havnt looked at airhats for a loong time. What should the nut look like to fir the Extreme perf hat? Any other hats that the nut doesnt fit with? We can modify the design (since its been the same since 99...) for non-stock apps.

Does anyone else have a problem with your throttle body sticking at around 1000-1200 rpms when slowing to a stop? My 52mm does it every few days, when it sticks, it does it a few times that day. Ive pulled it apart a couple times and cleaned it, lubed it, and cleaned the edges of the blades, and didnt change it any. Ive tried adjusting the idle screw, and it works for about 2 weeks or so. Anyone figure out how to fix it if so?

05-07-2009, 05:25 PM
When you say you've pulled it apart, what do you mean?? And what are you using the "lube" it??

geo2slow4u
05-07-2009, 05:25 PM
I think he uses anti seize on the blade shaft. When he puts them together. You could try that.

hskrRT
05-07-2009, 05:30 PM
Yep. That's what he uses and recommend for lubricating the shaft.

You can always send it back to F&B for a tuneup!

Normally a "sticky" idle is caused by either a bad IAC or excessive TPS voltage. The "idle" screw should be set for nominal TPS voltage (.54-.6) and then locked down. If there is still a sticky throttle at idle, the IAC may be holding up, especially if the PCM has been re-flashed for a bigger cam, which ususally holds the IAC open longer as you decellerate to prevent low rpm stalling. Last case would be the throttlebody itself having an issue, usually galling between aluminum and stainless steel or a loose linkage.

IMO id send it back to F&B for a tuneup!

Its not the IAC or the TPS. Ive checked them on the drb at work and cleaned IAC.
It started acting up when I switched from the fastman to the f&b throttle body. I do have a flash for a bigger cam, but this never happened with the other throttle body.....
I put anti seize on the shaft also.

How much does the "tune-up" run?

hskrRT
05-07-2009, 06:09 PM
Another thing I just remembered. I've heard of several people having problems with the blades sticking if the TPS sensor was too tight. There is supposed to be a gasket on the sensor, but some don't have this. If you tighten the TPS down to tight it will causing binding and hold the throttle open.

I checked that too, but didnt change. The only thing thats changed the sticking was changing the idle screw to bring the tps voltage down....but that only works for a few weeks then I gotta do it again.

Just wondering, what does the tune up do that i havent done?

BKBridges
05-07-2009, 06:52 PM
Not sure...
We will check it out as it stands, note any issues that we find, disassemble it and rebuild it with its original parts if they are still servicable. We will check all the tolerances and replace any part that is suspect, chase the threads in the body, etc. Theres a few things we look for as we go through the disassembly based on the symptom that brought it back to us.

F&B Performance, 766 Ocean Crest Rd

It takes us about 2 days to do the turnaround so expect a week with shipping unless you need it sooner. If you do, add another 14.00 for Fed Ex saver shipping...

No rush, just curious what you think about a nut for it.

got_torque
05-08-2009, 02:33 AM
Well I just did some more adjusting on it. It sticks at any tps voltage when coming back to idle. If you just barely touch the linkage it unsticks, BARELY touch it. There just seems to be too much play in the blades or shaft where it connects to the linkage. I guess I'll have to drive around with a stock one for the next 2 weeks.

The marks are on the bottom leading surface of the blade.
With the TB sitting on its top and the linkage to your left, the blades drop in with the marks furthest away from you facing upwards...If you put em in wrong, they wont fit properly!
