I noticed a few of you guys are running big blocks. I am pulling whats left of my hair out trying to find headers to fit in my 88 440 project. I am gonna drag the truck at the local track. I will be using a front plate and most likely a mid plate. Can any of you give me any advice on what headers and mabey some tricks on getting them installed?

They started off as a set of cheapy 1 3/4"summit headers and many welds later, they were in...I'm gonna be making a new set1 7/8" headers this year because I feel the 1 3/4" may be just a tad too small...take a look at this thread and click the link to my slide show...I gotta go to work now, but will be on later around 5...

Great Slideshow. Did you build your motor mounts? You got one heck of rig. You were saying in one of your post that you were having a time of getting the rear to stick. Did you ever get a good run on it? I weighed mine and it is a little nose heavey right now. I am cutting a bunch of weight of the front and I am gonna make it so the nose comes off with the fenders. I got the
numbers for the rear shocks your using. What are you using for the front?

Yes I did. I took the helper spring out of the rear leafs, set the pinion angle to -2*, added a set of competition engineering "Slide-A-Link" traction bars with a 1/4" space between the bushings and the stops(much like cal-tracs) and a set of cheapy summit racing adjustable drag shocks up front

275/50R15 Mickey thompson Drag Radials set at 13psi.

Consistanly lays down
1.60's 60' times
7.40's-7.50's @ 91-93 mph ...660'
11.70's-11.80's @ 114-115 MPH ...1320'

It hooks everytime now.

I got more video, I'll see if I can get it up on line.

Actually, I got stock replacement shocks in the rears...what numbers do you got for the rears???? I'd like to know if theyre for a camaro or something cuz I can't seem to find any for the dakota. I'm thinking by adding a set drag shock on the rear this summer, I should get 1.50's out of my 60' times.

I got the summit rear numbers from one of the other posts. I was looking for some drag shocks also. I was wondering as long as the limits of the shock are right if you can use any that will mount up? I measured somewhere to find the compressed and extended lenghts then I was going to find something that was close.
Do you like the slide a links? What makes them diffrent to ladder bars or 4 links? Is it just the bolt on? I am looking to swap my spring hangers into the inside of the frame rails then tub over to the outside frame rails. With all this I am gonna get a 8 3/4 built or danna 60. I have both right now so, what ever I get a deal on first for the guts.
Sorry fo all the questions, but around here theres hardley anyone that knows anything about a dodge none the less dakota. I am starting from scratch so I will have a boat load of questions if you can stand them.
