Hey guys,

Just need some words of confidence. This year hasnt been the greatest on my Dakota.

I know it isnt that bad, and could be worse, but I'm just down about something I put money in and take care of.

About a year and a half ago, my Dakota was side swiped by a dump truck and repaired poorly by some guys that got fired.

This year hasnt shown any remorse for the Dakota.

- Quarter panel on the bed is rusting and needs replaced.
- They never put the drivers side seal back on my door, and the sill is rusting.
- Some how, fiberglas resin dripped on my bumper cover and has put some medium sized ugly spots on it.
- Bent one of my polished wheels before winter.
- Tailgate got chipped to hell during the summer.
- Recently got bumped into at the bank, cracked my rollpan to hell, and broke a few welds on my exhaust.
- Tonite, my brothers girlfriend side swiped the truck, and traded paint. Now I have a good spot that is chipping, and some white paint to clean off tomorrow.

The truck is almost paid off, I'm talking $400 left.
What do I do?
I dont have a spare vehicle, but want to dismantle and fix everything right now.

Definitely going to clean and wax it tomorrow, even though it's been through hell.
I do appreciate all the help I have received on this forum.

Headed for bed, I need to sleep this one off.

yupp was gonna say.buy a beater after the $400 is payed off.buy a beater for $500-$1000. & all the money you save after that from not having to pay payments you can mod the shit out of it.i wish i could put $400 a month into my truck.

X4 on the paying off of the Dakota and then getting a cheap beater to drive while you fix it. Once you're done you can always keep the beater and drive the Dakota for fun so maybe so much won't happen to it or if you just want the truck then sell the beater and save the money for the insurance on it as well and then you'll have more money to spend on the Dakota. Good luck man. Hope things get better for your truck.

Thanks guys for teh encouragement.

Im going to get it cleaned up today, and definitely pay it off next month.

Spring will be here before I know it, and I can get it fixed up or find a beater.

Its always one thing after another, but I wont let the Dakota die.
I dont need an 80,000 dollar Benz to be happy, Im happy with my Dodge.

I know how you feel.

Honestly, getting the truck washed waxed and looking good gives me such a high, and I feel 200% better once the truck is clean.

Not having a vehicle payment is nice too.

Sounds to me like most of it shouldn't be your responsibility to fix. Any of the problems left over from the original body work should be taken care of by the shop that did the original work. Doesn't matter if the guys who did the work were fired or not, the shop is liable for the work performed. The roll pan and exhasut should be paid for by the person who hit you, and your brothers gf should be paying for the damage she caused, or filing a claim with her insurance company. Don't get down about stuff you had no control over. But I'd be fighting a lot harder to get most of the damaged repaired by the people responsible for it.

i'll trade you my problems for your problems?

Oh wait, stevenpopham already did all of the swapping of paint and bending/denting quarter panals and then falls off the site and doesn't answer or respond to phone calls.:blahblah:

Pay it off, get a beater for 1500 bucks, save up some $$, fix your truck, and enjoy life for what it is!

I feel you pain good sir. I wish I was that close to paying off my truck

Mines beat up. But I gotta see it through, it's a great truck. Just needs some money thrown at it. Right now, all I can afford to do it keep her running right.

Have your truck paid off is nice, but you still have to pay insurance on it. At one point I dropped my truck down to liability only when I was in Cali and deployed most of the time. Now it's back to full coverage, but I pay less than $100 a month for full coverage on my truck and my wifes van.

I want to get a beater myself.

Keep it up, you almost there. But yeah, sounds like your Dak had a rough year.
