Well as of right now, the available engines in the Durango and the soon to come Dakota are....
3.7 V6
4.7 V8
5.7 V8
Expect to see an SRT-8 version of the Durango this time next year. The Gen 4 Dakota will debut in September 04 as an 05 model. A year after that is when the SRT-8 Dakota will debut.
More than likely the SRT-8's will be a bumped up version of the 5.7, though 6.1 rumors are floating around. But I think it will have the bumped up 5.7.
The new Dakota will finally have 5 lug hubs/wheels like the Durango.
The Dakota will still have 3 models, Regular Cab, Extended Cab, and Quad Cab. The extended cab will finally have it's own suicide doors for easier access.
It is now on a hydroformed frame that is lighter and stronger than the old frame.
The truck is said to be a few inches bigger than the current Dak.
