The PCM on my truck (when i bought it) is supposed to be a Mopar, but it didnt seem to make a difference when i switched it with the stock one. i didnt notice anything. And it doesnt say mopar on it, it has a part number "P05007 107" and it says Daimler Chrysler??
My truck Does shift 1-2 at around 5200RPM, but then 2-3 at just over 3500RPM??!!

if its a true MOPAR Perf ECM, your shift points will be all at ~5200 RPM when ya have your foot in it..... and if ya run anything less than 89 you`ll hear ping....
did a quick check on mopartsracing.com and the ECM is for a 1999 Dakota 4x2 federal auto.
seems ya got a bad deal, IMO.... maybe a dealership did a *death flash* on it at some point. see if ya can get it fixed or spring the ~$400 for a B&G or Mike Leach custom flash program.

I'd check the part number first before you do anything.
That is the part number for Mopar PCM: DAKOTA 5.9L 4X2 FEDERAL (AUTO) 5007107 1999 348.00

So if it is a Mopar PCM, would I still benefit from a hypertech??

how long have you had the pcm and how many miles have you driven it? There's somewhat of a learning curve for the pcm. BTW, how does your tranny shift with the stock pcm?

sorry to say, but the stock one shifts at 5200-5350 or so. the performance ecm or pcm, allows for shifting to be done at a 6500 rpm fuel shutoff, allowind your shift poinrs to be raised to about 6000-6200rpm.

once the computer is in, you will hae to readjust your kickdown linkage. use a marker to guide you. you dont need alot of movement on this setting. mark it, then puch the button in while holding the nub end, giving it a light push back will raise the shift pointno more than an 1/8'' of movement though.
