so i noticed the passenger side HID isnt coming on anymore (supposed to be be longer life than halogens *yay*). I had to drive home on Hi's (luckily i got the hi-low ones or id be screwed)...i havent had a chance to look at em yet...ill check em tomorrow after class. maybe something just got knocked loose. hopefully i dont need to replace the bulb. Im not looking forward to messing with em more, being that i got effed in the aye and the stealership in the beginning. If i dont get em working, i may consider selling the kit and swapping in SilverStarUltras....:rant:

ok, as you were [ /rant ]

You had an issue with them before. So, dying early doesn't seem to surprise me. Goodluck.

mine have been workin pretty good, just seem to be voltage sensitive, only time i have a problem is at nite and i have the system turned up or subs knockin pretty good which would make halogen bulbs dim but just makes my passenger side go out which i have to stop, turn my lights off for 3 secs and turn back on.

My HID's do this as well, but I flash the High beams on and off they start to work perfectly. I don't have a clue why it does this. Sometimes it will be only one or the other light and it has even been BOTH a couple times!!!

about a week ago, when i first noticed it, turning them off and back on fixed it, but this time it hasnt came back on.

you dont have to splice into your stock wiring, but the bulbs ARE soldered to the plugs to the ballast, which then plugs to the stock harness...id have to cut em off and re-solder to the ballast...which would be a PITA, but id get to play with the soldering gun :jester::funny:

and the silverstars are supposed to be the brightest light output from halogens without going HID....i think...

I had a bit of a problem with my passenger side acting up but *knocks on wood* it hasn't done if for a while. For no reason it would just start flashing and flickering and then it would just go out. After a bit if I turned them off and then back on it came back on and was fine. If it starts again I'm just gonna pull them and go back to Silverstars. The thing about these HIDs is I don't have highs.

Are you guys running standard electromagnetic ballasts or digital? My old electromagnetics did that and I havent had a single problem since upgrading to digital. (I hate silverstars BTW lol)

the silverstars are "allegedly" the brightest street legal halogens you can buy. i have piaa's in my dur and they are definately brighter than the silverstars but also $30 more and the piaa's are "for offroad use only". in the case of headlights im gonna have to stick with the "to each his own" theory

well, i took a look and im thinking the ballast is dead. when i turn em on, i can hear the driver's "humming" as it warms up, but the passenger's is silent...halogens work fine, but they wont cut it as a replacement...

everything is connected and i un-plugged it (used the 'ol Nintendo technique :jester) and plugged it all back up. no difference...

i think i still have my old halogens...ill prolly swap em till i decide what to do.

I had the PIAAs in my Eclipse and loved them. Just not the price tag. Not that the HIDs were any cheaper but they were supposed to last longer. I may go back down that route again. I really did like them.

You can switch the ballasts around? Switch the ballasts and see if your "dead" ballast powers up the other head light, and if your "working" ballasts fires up the other light, then you'll know if it's a bulb, or a ballasts.

As mentioned earlier, when I switched to a digital ballasts, I no longer had the problem your explaining. I used to have to flick my lights on and off a few times to get them to both work. Sometimes it would take minutes for them to both work, and sometimes I was stuck with 1, and sometimes with NONE, really annoying. I switched to new ballasts, and VROOOOOOOM, no problem for 2-3 years!

You are experiencing voltage drop. Took me a month to figure it out.
Just rev the motor above 2k rpm and your lights will come on simultaneously all the time. Guess its a feature of the chinky HIDS.

i swapped the ballasts and the good one lit up the passenger bulb, and the dead one didnt light up the drivers. so i messaged the ebay store and paid the shipping, so they are sending me a replacement.

ill have to try the rev thing, how does that work anyways? cuz i turned my headlights on (HIDS) and drove home to find only one working when this first happened, i had to have revved higher than 2k sometime, but maybe not...thanks for the tip. if it DOES fix it, ill have a replacement ballast for the future to swap if i need it.

Hard choice, $25 bucks or another 125ish for a new set from them. :jester:

You should get stock lights to caress Caulk's balls though. :D

How do you have yours hooked up? I'm curious to why you have had such an issue.

Was the ? about only the old style electro having these problems? Cause I was thinkin' bout getting Hids but if they are doing that I'll just stick w/ what I got (which sucks) but I've heard of the silverstars melting the 1pc headlights.

they are $96 shipped. and they only reason i had problems was a) when i first hooked em up, the passenger side bulb 'popped' and stopped working cuz i had the battery hooked up (my fault, yea) prolly screwed up the ballast right off the bat and i had to take it to the dealership to get it fixed; and b) i put the plug to the ballast in backwards, also my fault, but there werent instructions, and realdeals pointed the opposite direction IIRC.

read closely... you turn the vehicle on.. rev the motor over 2k THEN turn the HIDs on.
