thanks to a wonderful neighbor of mine, which im going to thoroughly drop kick my foot in his ass. fucking 10:40 a.m. this morning they took it. right out from under my nose. i was in the house doing some things, and didnt hear shit. another naighbor whos truck they took too, told me about it.

and my uncle being as broke as he is, barely getting by on what money he is making, its now gone, and he wont be able to pay to get it out. im so fucking pissed. truck was directly out front of my house, not bothering anyone. i was wanting to get the tb, intake and some other shit off it first too..so much for that.

Why did they "take" it. Parked illegally? And they took another one on the street too? - so I am assuming it must have been a parking issue.......

tags werent valid anymore...
my ram..well, now my uncle...err, the cities now, came up from florida. so, he had some other issues with it to boot. tags were expired since before he even came up here and that was like 4.5 months ago...so, i blame it on him. he got a lousy ass work ethic, cant keep shit in his name...even when he is working..

im just pissed that i couldnt get the performance shit off it, as a partial payment if you will, to what he owes me on it..and he still does...prick.

i shoulda sold him the teal one i had way back in 2004 or so, i think is when i took it down to him. fucker drove the piss out of the truck, shows up with the interios all fucked up. steering aint right, brakes dont work right...how he drove it like that, is beyond me.

public street, with parking on either side of it.

So they took it just because the tags were expired? I'm still confused. Did he owe the city money or anything? And you say he got it from you, so it wasn't repossessed. How the hell can they just take it for having the tags expired, especially for only 4 1/2 months?

Was it considered a "junk" vehicle? We have that law in Montana, but it must have not moved for over a year, etc. Then you get warned before they'll come take it.

Oh well, just more government regulation. Guess we better get used to it the way the polls are looking.

And in the middle? LOL, craziest thing I've ever seen is in Philly where y'all park on the median.

so, who paid for all this performance stuff? sounds like maybe someone's priorities aren't where they should have been.

maybe instead of spending nearly $2500 in performance/appearance upgrades, someone should have paid $100 for new registration.

i drove it down to florida. sold it to him, and was getting payment from him (all be it it was only 3 of them)..so he still owes me money. he ended up moving back to philly, to gain employment. while there in florida, he let the shit run out. registration, insurance etc. so he drove up here, under the radar so to speak. the truck, sat out front of my house since.

truck still ran like a top, never leaked anything, and no, it was not concidered junk..

so i dont know wtf to do now. that was my dads truck...

i did, years ago, when i owned it. performance upgrades where on the truck when i sold the truck to him...4-5 years ago.

he never did anything to the truck. he kept it as i had built it

I'm still confused on how exactly they have the legal right to tow it. They can tow it just because the tags are expired?

If you haven't actually driven it, then you haven't broken any laws.

That is like coming and taking your gun away, just because you *may* use it to break laws.

10-22-2008, 10:25 PM
That sucks!! Seems to me like that the City would be required to mail you a notice about it being in violation of City Ordinence #---- before they could legally tow it!!! Something just don't sound right about this deal! I'd be raising some hell!!!!

Maybe neighbor reported it stolen, and that you guys were trying to part it out.

well its on a public road and a vehicle has expired tags. So they have every right to tow it. It can be considered an abandoned vehicle. I know the lil town I live in they have this law. How do you know this person called the cops about it. Cops could of just drove by and saw the tags expired.

i personally dont owe shit. its my uncles problem. its 125.oo plus 12-18.oo a day for storage. then, he has to show up with paperwork showing his tags/insurace and registration are up to date. then it would have to get towed to a shop for inspection, before he could even take it off thier hands.

not to mention, he owes the state of florida 1000.oo for the same kind of shit, cause her let it all lapse. (him getting sick as shit like he did (rather not say what it was ...(not aids though thank god)) didnt help any. lets just say he needed interferon injections. which if anyone knows what that shit is..is some fucked up shit.

not to sound mean or anyhting. The truck was in violation of the law. Next time buy a truck cover or if you have a driveway park it in there. He was doing his job as block captain. Sure it sucks but yo u knew this would happen sooner or later with a vehicle with expired tags on a public road.

LOL...
In some neighborhoods, they have like a Neighborhood Watch, that is supposed to help the neighbors look out for each other and such, so I would say that someone would have to be in charge or assume the leader type role.

C'mon, now...do you really believe that? In a parking lot, with nothing to do, maybe...but on the street...I don't see that happening much

he didnt have to go about it this way, he coulda just said to me straight up too...like, hey man, if you cant get your truck straighened out, im going to have to call it in...

he's black too....and i think maybe this had something to do with it too. shame, cause ive known the prick all my life. sorry to toss the race card in but, the shoe fits IMO

Yeah they ( the city) tend to do that. It falls under a abandoned vehicle law. I personally dont see anything wrong with it. I had a neighbor who had two POS chevelle and an el camino in his driveway. looked like he pulled them from the junkyard and dragged them home. It devalues my property. When I was selling my house the first thing people looked at when they drove up was those two POS cars sitting in the driveway. Guess how many people made offers on my house. ZERO thats how many. A bunch of neighbors got pissed and they called the city and finally they came and towed those cars away. ( those cars were sitting there for abotu two years. None of us jumped the gun. We tried talking tot he guy asking him to at least throw some car covers on them so they just looked liek two parked cars but the guy was really unreasonable. it woudl be easy for the guy to put the cars in his back yard or his garage but he had to leave them out for the whole world to see. if he woudl of gotten some cheapo 20$ covers he could of avoided the whole thing but he decided to be a jerk off

i didnt read the whole thing, but i do believe he and what he had going on, was a totally different situation than me. if i could afford to live in a 245K house, i woulda paid the 50.oo thing and been done with it. not to mention this isiot has/or had a job and evidentally, paid well too, to own such a nice piece of property. unfortunately for me, all i have is a nice 52" big screen tv, surround sound (bought this a while back when i had just got on disability for my back--looking back, i guess i coulda got by with something not as nice...but fuck it), and my truck and garage. everything else is moms shit. and what little else i had for when i had my own apartment (for which im selling pretty cheep too)...cause im flat fucking broke.

speaking of water pumps, anyone need one? i bought one for it with the pully attached...got it from rockauto. since i no longer have the truck, and my uncle is a waste at trying to do something about all this...i need to sell it for some bills coming up....

Actually my neighbor works for the city. she is a secretary to something or other. I asked her and she said depending on the city yeah they can and do random checks and tow with no warning. She said the car has to be out of public view ( garage or back yard) if its in the driveway it canbe towed. At least thats in my city and im assuming most cities tend to copy each others rules. By-laws can seem fucked up, but they don't tend to 'bend rules". If the vehicle has no tags and is sitting on public property, they just yank it. There was a guy in my subdivision that had an old chevelle IN is driveway - town bylaw states that if it an eyesore it must be removed - he had to put it in is garage or the town was gonna fine him. We aren't supposed to park company vehicles in our driveways here either(that eyesore thing again) in our driveways. Town doesn't act until someone bitches, then they go on a tear.

i cant do nothing. my uncle owes 1000.oo to florida's wonderful court system, for driving the thing with invalid everything (he really couldnt help it, he was dead broke and came out here on a whim tin hopes to find work here, and make some sort of amends with me (cause the guy never called me or nothing to let me know what was going on. ). since his bout with being inheritly deathly ill. he's been playing catch up since. and now, because of all this shit, he lost the truck. it was supposed to be withing the family for a long time coming, but i think since he came back, and when he and i had a big blow out about it and my ex gf/gf....(dont ask..its complicated), and amoung alot of other things, he showed me he had no interest in it. but then later afterwards, he's talking all this stuff about wanting to fix it up and blah blah...yea, ok. guy cant even stop drinking/going out enough to get his shit straight, save up and get the fuck out my house...im so fed up, i shoulda told him on the day he showed up UNEXPECTEDLY MIND YOU, "good, im glad your sorry, now have a nice day, there is the door" reason being is because the guy never called me in over two years to let me know, if anything what was happening.. (cause he was trying to make payments to me....and i use that term loosely). all this shit started back in 2003 when i drove the truck to him in florida, trying to help him out, cause he needed something to get to work with. his job was a 40 minute drive from where he lived...:blahblah:

Just one of the reasons we need to fuck all these governments up and get some of these laws changed. What's next, your clothes cause you didn't have time to wash them. They stole something that belonged to you. If they had done it to me, I would sue them for theft. I don't care what anyone says.

motor still had alot of balls though and its got like 165K on it too.
anyone want a cheap ram, come to philly.

im just besides myself i guess, least i coulda got off it was the tb and headers. something simple to get off. then i think i wouldnt beso pissed

This sounds like a plan. For all the different parts, you may get some decent money.

hell, with what ive been trying to sell on here and on other sites, id probably own it all for a while before it sold.

Okay, wait a minute, take a deep breath and think this one out. I understand you don't want to borrow money from your mom, for reasons you state, but also as you state with what you've been trying to sell on here and other sites, you like everybody else are trying to get what you think is a fair price. Nothing wrong with that, but if you just need money and the items you take off the truck are sold way below cost, people are going to buy when they see a deal. Example, M1's typically go for $200-$300, if you were to sell it for $100 someone would snap that up in a heartbeat, and you'd be in for a $100. Now I'm not saying to sell the M1 cause I know you want that for yourself, but you get the picture. Since all the other stuff you remove from the truck you didn't pay for, except in labor, you'll still be making a buck. What I'm saying is part the shit out of it and sell all the stuff on the cheap, you'll make money, there are always people who can spot a deal. If you sell the stuff at deeply discounted prices you'll make your money back to pay your mom and probably have some, but not a lot of cash let over, and some money is better than none. I'm just saying look at all your avenues before you shut the door, because the longer you wait to get it out of storage the less profitable it will be for you. Then just leave it out on the street in front of your unlce's house call the city and let them come for it again. Just my .02

Talk to the city, try and get a settlement for the payment down. Tell them you will be putting it in a garage. All they want is some money. I would be willing to pay to get it out if it was worth it. I am not to far away from you. I can stick it in my garage and part the shit out of it. I would be willing to throw a couple hundy your way if it was worth doing.

i see what your saying..BUT
i did pay for everything that was on the truck. mew m1's are going fro a tick over 700.oo with the install kit. if i was to get it, id be happy with 60-65% of what it costs.

if i was to go through all that, all i would do is break even. i really dont think they will release the truck, as it is not in my name, its in my uncles name, and with his issues steming from florida, were fucked.

my uncle dont own a house, he's living with us, in my mothers home.

thanks for the offer, but i really dont think the truck is worth it anymore. with the shape its in, the only thing really having any value is the trans, motor and the hp shit. and the motor having 160+k on it, dont think its very valuable as it sits. cause hell, i have a motor (its all apart right now), with 3K on it, and no one wants to get it. and it dont need much either to get it in running condition.

it just sickens me that the block captain had to be a coward about it and just call, and not say something to me before he actually does. then, i woulda drove it to my cousins house or something, park it in his driveway till a better spot may open up or something...(but i dont know how receptive he would have been, cause the way he is, if he cant benifit from something, he dont do anything fro no one)

If your uncle still owes you money on it, you can take a lein out on it and reposse it. Then you can get it out of the impound lot and part it out,or sell it whole. I think the problems with the truck in Florida would only be your uncle's problem, and have nothing to do with you (being a lienholder). Just a thought. (and what I would do, if it were me!)

It doesn't matter that he holds the title and that it is his name, you can still put a lien on it, as long as he owes you money. Then if you are a lienholder, you can reposses it. You will still have to pay the city whatever, but then you will own it. You can put a lien on it at you local courthouse.

Borrow to get it out, take what you want off of it. Sell the rest, pay back what you borrowed, after that, the rest is gravy!

C'mon, now...do you really believe that? In a parking lot, with nothing to do, maybe...but on the street...I don't see that happening much

Right...point made...

well in my city the cops cruise the parking lots of wal-mart other parking areas including my work place to look for expired tags and inspection stickers. so yes it does happen.

but more likely than not, they dont go looking up and down the streets as it was said to me. i also have EYE witnesses that seen him copying shit down...then magically the man shows up with flatbeds and reinforcment buddies too. think im about fucked in this deal, as i dont have the money on hand to do shit. this would be a whole different ball game if i was allowed to build the garage the way i wanted too back in 1999. 1.5foot wider, and 4-4.5 feet longer...i woulda had PLENTY of room, and wouldnt have this issue. cause it woulda been parked in there till the thing grew hair for all i cared.:bump:
