hey guys. tryin to charge my AC system.

pulled 30 inches of vacuum on it for half an hour.

went to shoot in some R134A, got one can 12 oz in to system and system static pressure is already at 100 PSI on both guages.

system spec on the sticker reads. 1.8 lbs

compressor wont cycle, and it should with 100 psi on the low side.

but i dont see how thats possible.

did this a week ago with no problems, found an fixed my leak, and now am stumped.

help!

thanks! :banana2:

how is this possible?

i can cycle the compressor by running power to the power side of it from the battery.

still wondering why my pressures are so crazy.

and its cooler here then normal, so they should be lower.

when i did this a week ago, it worked out, except for the leak. i got a new high side service valve and put that on.

thats the only difference i can think of. but that shouldnt matter.

I would seriously get professional help on that A/C system, we (my boss) and I tried to charge my system after having some work done on the compressor and ended up overcharging the system and blowing lime green oil all over my engine compartment (stunk like hell for a few days and took two pressure washings to get it all out). I took the truck to my local Brakes Plus, I think it cost me $130.00 to have the go over the system adn get it charged properly.

If you ran a vaccume on it then I would put the rest of the 1.8 lbs of freon in it. You also have a high pressur switch to consider. Charge running with the a/c on it will kick on once the pressures are right. If it won't take the last bit of freon without kicking on use a paper clip and jump the low side switch to get it to suck the rest in.
You might want to swap the horn relay with the a/c relay.
