When Chrysler gave its Plymouth brand the axe, many storied name-plates were orphaned -- none of them more legendary than the Hemi 'Cuda. As the Mopar brand began teasing the world with its pony car revival, otherwise known as the Dodge Challenger, a great many fans of the classic Barracuda were left wishing that their childhood dreams of driving off the showroom floor in a brand new Hemi-powered Plymouth muscle car could finally be fulfilled. And so they might. HXC Performance is currently hard at work designing a retrofit kit that would transform the Dodge Challenger into a proper Plymouth 'Cuda. Many aficionado's believe that the 1971 'Cuda was the best looking year, and it's on this model that HXC chose to base its conversion. Included is a new grille, fender "gills" (which were only used in '71), Shaker hood, tail lights and a new rear valance.

To up the performance ante of the standard HEMI-powered R/T model, a Brembo brake package and suspension upgrade will also be included, as will a few engine option packages that can bump the power up to 475 horsepower. Mustang and Camaro owners may now have one more reason to keep an eye on their rear-view mirrors, mimicking countless scenes from the muscle car glory years of the early '70s.

Problem is it was under the Plymouth nameplate. It would be badass though.

yea, dodge cuda just sounds...gay.

they would have to bring back the plymouth name plate just for that car though. hell, I might buy one if they did!

always said they should of used Plymouth Barracuda name over the challenger name for the new car. just sounds more bad ass saying hemi cuda over hemi challenger :mullet:

at the Woodward dream cruise there was a silver and black challenger running around with a shaker hood on it. I didn't get a chance to see the grill very close. Maybe it was a proto of this car?

I have still not seen one a new challenger in person... No one in GA has one I guess  Local dodge place doesn't have them either

I"ve only seen 2 so far. An orange one when I was on vacation in Jersey and a black V6 here in PA on Sat.

my local dealer had 3 of them sitting out front a week ago. All in different colors. He did the same thing with the rumble bees too. orange, green, purple, and yellow. They looked like giant skittles.

I like the Cuda idea better. I have seen so many new Challengers it's not even funny.

i see them everywhere. it will only be a matter oftime before we get one in my shop to do a remote start or backup camera or system or somthin. the owner of the ford dealer round here brought his ford gt for a backup camera. i came that day.

the owner of the car wash down the street had one and sold it. he was an old guy and said it wastoo fast. "the srt8." the dealer down the street has an orange/red one with a strip around the rear and a all balck "no badges" with chrome wheels.... looks sick. has the srt8 wheels.

the cuda does sound badass but they will never bring back plymouth for one car. just like the jeep cherokee. there are alot more cherokee enthusiasts "being one" than grand cherokee. and besides the chinese ones we will peolly never see one again.
