View Full Version : Vendor Bashing

Ive seen it happen a lot lately...
I don't care who is doing it, why they are doing, and what the argument is about. It has to stop.
Plain and simple...if no one hasn't told you, parts for our now decade old trucks and vendors that sell parts for them are getting harder and harder to come by. By having the select vendors we do have here, we are given discounts and great information on these products, and I would like to see it continue. These vendors also pay for their vendor status, which in turn helps support and keep the site running. No vendors...no site...
I am not calling out any member, Im telling every member:
Members: If you see a vendor posting something that you don't agree with, please over look it and move on. Report the post. In the top right there is a icon that you can report any post you see and an email is sent to all moderators and they have a direct link to it to moderate as needed.
Vendors: Please help out by avoiding controversial threads like religion and politics, nobody will win :jester:
Others have been warned and about instigating other members. Im tired of seeing it also. If you see a member who does NOT have a FIGHT CLUB ICON, do not start fights or arguments in the off topic section. You have every right to invite them to fight club, but if they choose not too...leave it alone. The site outside of fight club is not the place for fights or arguments that are only meant to be flame wars.
Derrick, stay out of the pound, your only trying to start trouble. If I see you in there, ill remove you. Steve has asked you and you still go. You complain all the time but yet you still cause trouble yourself.
Dogs and any other members doing it, please refrain from the "red box club", to many people are getting there precious feelings hurt.
LEAVE the Amsoil Guy Alone...he is here to plug his Oil and is not bothering anyone. Ive been here almost three years and have never seen the guy bothering anyone.
The exception to this rule? If a Vendor joins fight club, he is on his own. As long as it stays in fight club.
From now on, if I see "Vendor Bashing" or arguments that are anything of the sort leading to a fight, they will be closed, no questions asked.
If any of you see this kind of action, REPORT THE POST.
I would like to see this site continue and every Vendor we have is a great addition to the site. Lets keep it that way.

Please just stay out and avoid the troubles.

So just because a person is a paying site vendor they are untouchable as normal posters in other threads when you have a differing opinion?? It's nice to know they have to be treated so special. They are just as much at fault when participating in flame wars as the non-vendors. They can just as easily not reply if they feel they are getting "bashed." If they don't reply, then they can't really be bashed. Just like with most bullies, if you ignore them long enough they get bored and move on to another target.

no one is special here. Im asking to lay off the vendors...YOU and your love for the Amsoil guy is a classic example. Take your own advise and dont reply.

I have stopped replying to him if you haven't noticed. If we have to "lay off" the vendors even if they are participants in non-vendor related topics, then you are asking to treat them special.

I agree 100% that the vendor bashing needs to stop, but there are 2 sides to this. Lets see if I can make sense of this in my own wishy washy way. I intercepted an email earlier of a reported post. Which clearly was the right thing to do by reporting it. I go to check it out and cant believe what im seeing. The vendor is clearly the one doing the bashing. Not just in one post, but in several. I issued a warning to him about it and left it at that. I could clearly see he was in the wrong. Its my lil itty bitty wishy washy opinion that the vendors shouldnt be allowed to bash either.

agreed...but i am pretty sure that vendor was instigated by others...just probably not in public
So that makes it okay?

if i came off as Vendors are not subject to moderation, that was not my intention. You guys can report Vendors also if they are starting things. I will edit their post also. a nice ***edited for content to keep the peace*** will now be seen in these post when i find them.
Use the "Report a Post" option and let us know.
As far as reputation and private Pm's go, thats all on your guys. We cannot edit or moderate them. I dont care what goes on behind the curtains, as long as it doesn't spill into the main forum.

Still trying to stay neutral here, its still not right. It appears to me and ill admit I havent taken the time to read every post in every thread that the problems with this particular vendor were over. He is the one that was clearly bringing it back up.
I will also go ahead and apoligize to everyone in advance cause I know it will happen again where I wont read every post in every thread. Usually if I see a problem I will go back a page or 2 and see where it went wrong. It has now been brought to my attention that this is wrong and ill do my best to read into things more thoroughly in the future.

what is the fight club?

what is the fight club?
Once upon a time there was a dedicated subforum where people could argue with each other away from the rest of the forum's threads. Unfortunately most of the people who participated in there just couldn't keep their attitudes in check - they'd get into a fight with someone in the fight club, then follow them all over the rest of the site and repeatedly harass them. As a result, the Fight Club was killed off and the rule of "no flame wars" was put back into effect.
