So does anyone know the difference between the 5.7 hemi durango and pickup engines? Is it a different cam or just computer programing?

Different Computer programingis all that I am aware of. All of the 5.7L engines are the same with the exception of the LX motors which have a different Intake manifold as well as computer programing.

The Jeeps basically have the LX version of the 5.7L. The Ram, Durango, and Aspen are the ones who have the "truck" version of it.

Have any of you HEMI guys thought about putting an Engine Swap kit together? If you do, let me know, I would be happy to market it for you.

I wish someone would make a HEMI swap kit for a gen 3 dakota

Thats my point... If somone had a "KIT" that could make it more of a DIRECT WAP then I could see it as a viable option for the majority of people who can NOT R&D there own kits together.

The only thing about kit form wiring, since that will depend on what year the Dakota or durango is as well as what year the hemi is from. Even if we could create a set of mounts, and a oil pan, this would make this a lot easier to swap. The wiring for the most part is do-able by anyone who can read a wiring diagram with some knowledge of wiring. I might have to look into the oil pan and mounts when I work on a stroker build. Great idea though!

do you mean as in the HP? or in the big picture of how the engine is different? cuz the new challanger with the 5.7 pushes 375HP and 400 FT.Trq.

Like said above, the wiring is the largest issue is getting the wiring to match. The big issue is for those who have a 97-00, as the wiring is more involved because of several changes. 2001+ trucks aren't as bad to do, but a generic wiring harness cannot be made, as the year-to-year wiring changes makes a wiring job specific to the year of the truck that the donor wiring is from, and the vehicle it's going to.

I was refering to hp. i was assuming everthing engine wise was really the same, between the durango and truck that is.

To my knowledge, they are the same. The car version usually picks up a little more power with it's intake.

I believe the truck Hemi has at least 5 more HP than any other model. Seems backwards but that's my understanding.

The Car manifold actually builds more torque, due to it's longer intake runner length. That is why I am wanting to go to the car manifold, but we might be limited due to how tall the car manifold is. I have not measured it, but it looks too tall.

a kit would be badass!...whats the diff between the 5.7 and the 6.1??? do they use a different tranny?

you can use the same tranny with the 6.1 as you do with the 5.7. If you follow what alot of the Ram guys are doing over on dodgetalk you learn alot about what the 5.7/6.1 platform is capable of. Thats why I plan on ditching my 4.7L in the next year or two

maybe its because with a truck you need power to make up for the weight of the truck and the weight of things you might possibly be towning or hauling...

The issue I (would) have with the car or 6.1L manifold is the placement of the alternator and the A/C compressor being in the way. There are brackets that will space them apart so you can use that manifold, or you can swap the timing cover to the car/6.1L version. The brackets are the easiest way to go, but it still doesn't look right IMO.
