I own a 2003 Reg. Cab Dakota R/T.I also own a 1969 Dodge Charger 440 Big Block Car. I have owned the Charger since 1978 and can tell a million racing stories. Alot can happen in near 30 years. The Charger is running a 1969 Six Pack motor .I scrapped the sixpack for a Performance intake and a 750 Holley.I have had some head work done just to make things flow better and am running Hooker Headers into Flowmasters. This car is not set up for the quarter mile as I am running 2:76 gears and have a top end somewhere around 165 mph.
One time I was at a stoplight lined up against a 1969 396 Camaro Convertible 4 speed with 4:11 gears. We are sitt'n at the light and I can tell this guy is sweatin it big time. When the light turned green this guy was so jacked up he went thru 2 gears before he even moved. The old Dodge did not even chirp a tire. I just eased into to it then nailed it. Left him sitt'n. Now you and I know that Camaro on paper is faster than that Charger in the Quarter. I talked with this fellow later at the car show. He was a bit flustered to say the least. How fast is your car? That's only half of the equation. :drive:

lol, yep the driver is a big part of the equation there. Common joke in the supra community: "What does a 400 hp supra, a 600 hp supra, and a 900 hp supra have in common? 12 second timeslips." Sad but true in many cases :jester:

Man, if you ever sell the charger let me know. Thats the exact car i want, but i'd have to throw in the 426Hemi and if your R/T is black and ever want to sell it, let me know to :biggthump

I can't imagine a 396 with a 4 on the floor. My 69 has a 94 LT1 with a Turbo 350, and it burns all the way thru first and damn near half of 2nd if I want to...in an AUTO. If i dropped in a 4 speed, I'd be rim riding in 2 nights. The first thing I ever raced in my Camaro after my engine swap was a 04 Tiburon GT(mid 15 sec car) and he almost beat me cause I was so anxious on the gas off the line.

I have the Charger set up to resist the wheel spin. It's 2:76 geared Limited Slip. I re-arched the rear leafs and bound them like a Super Stock. Then I put a adjustable snubber and set it about 1/2" gap. You can still spin it but it is usually intended.I only wish the Dakota was so forgiving.
