PCM exchange?

I am having a custom flash done & have located a "used" PCM from the same year, motor, tranny, etc. truck as mine.
I thought it would be handy to have two, for possible emissions testing issues, etc.

What do I have to do to the "used" PCM so it is compatable with my truck?
Can I just put it in & everything is good? Can I have my VIN flashed into it? Is that possible/necessary?
I have heard if the mileage, etc. don't match mine there could be problems!

I have a '97 by the way which seems to be an odd year for Dakotas but this PCM is also a '97!

Does anyone have any info?

If you send this off to B&G Chrysler they can flash it for your particular vehicle, it would just be a painless swap.
