Depends... I have a regular cab, 2wd, that's red. So it is "Lil & Red" But I don't think that is what you're referring to.

Did Dodge build a "Lil Red" Dakota? Never heard of one, I know they made full size pickups in '78 & '79 with the "Lil Red Express" package. 360, etc...

That's kinda where I took some inspiration from for my "Plymouth Express" that I'm putting together.

That bed is weird...... and not really correct..... Let me tell you how this story began for me..... I was looking for some parts for my Shelby Dakota about two weeks ago in the local salvage yard. I came across a ratty old step side Dakota.. It reminded me of the one I saw a couple years ago at Carlisle. The truck was trashed..... rusted and pretty beat up... but the bed was complete... It was missing the stacks or it never had them but I felt it was still a good investment. So I bought the bed! It needs work but I'm thinking a Lil Red Clone with a big block in it would be a nice addition to complement my Shelby Dakota. For now I'm just going to store it untill I finish the Shelby...... Yea I believe my fenders are a little rounder and smoother then the ones used in the lil red dakota.

I have an 87..it didn't have the lil red express graphics..but it had the same fiberglass bed. It is now Prowler orange...and in the process of having a built 360 dropped in it..and set up as my street..strip truck.

There is a real one in town where i live. Its number 8 of 36. I saw the guy at the grocery store so i stopped and talked to him. His is a 92. Its got the dash badge telling what number it is and all the correct graphics, bumpers, and stacks. Hes an appraiser and has a 78 lil red express, and a roadrunner as well. :mullet: Apparently there is two more right around here. Within an hour or so.

IMO the Lil Red Dakot's were bnot that great looking and the stacks were not even hooked up. I like them becasue they are rare, but that's about it. I seen one the other day on Ebay and it was not too bad off-it was a 3.9 5-speed.

Oh trust me..I hate how the bed sits on the frame, they could have done a better job.The stacks could be made functional..as most I have seen are. BUt it was my first truck my dad found for me..so I am trying my little mods to make it into one unique street/strip truck....can you say turbo? :stirthepo
I have already recessed the tailights into the fenders and added the r/t hood...but more things are to come.

How far are you from completing it? What motor and what year is it?

Have all the parts..just about to install the motor and trans..and swap axles. I will be on it after I get the cam, heads, converter swapped on the 94!! Two trucks make for a busy summer!! Ohh I forgot..it's a mid 70's 360..J heads with mild port work...Air Gap intake..still waiting on the BT carb..but I just might run it N.A. for now...pretty typical mild combo. The truck itself is an 87.
