:help: hey guys, after all the crap i have been through with my dak, the main fan finally went out. i have some upcoming cross-country trips this summer and need to know if i should replace the fan with oem parts {150.00 } or go with the electric fan {250.00}. i have heard that the electric frees up some power, albeit very little, but which one keeps you running cooler. oh, yeah, she's a '03 4.7 QC  . any suggestions are greatly appreciated. thanks-rob

by going with the electric fan you will free up a few horses, but also the engine will rev a little faster due to the decreased drag on the motor. plus the water pump bearings will live longer due to less weight on them. i havent done this yet but its a very popular mod for our trucks.
Ive heard nothing but good things about the electric fans, freein up ponys can be nothin but good ya know? Not sure of the brands but i heard flexalite(is that it?) are pretty good. Good luck

If you ever plan on towing or live in a hotter area, you may want to step up to a Viper electrical fan - the thing draws massive amounts of air. There's a discounted rate available on bare fans through a Dodge dealership right now on the group buy page right now but you'd still have to purchase/fabricate the rest of the kit yourself, or you can contact Sam Parthemer at www.socaldakota.com and buy a complete fan kit.
