AWD swap

I have an 04 Dakota w/4WD. I used to own a Grand Cherokee with fulltime 4WD and loved it. I know this never came as an option for the Dakota, but someone mentioned to me that the Durango may have had an option for it. Can anyone provde me with some info? Can a AWD swap be done in a Dakota?

I swapped out my full-time (AWD) transfer case for a part-time one, and know the reverse can be done. Since my truck is a 2000, I have the floor shifter which makes it a bit easier. I do not know of anyone with a 2001+ that has swapped it out, so I do not know if there are any complications with the switch and the TCCM that controls the shifting of the transfer case.

The 2004 Durango came with the NV244 TC. I wonder if this would work?

Yes, as long as the TCCM doesn't have any issues with it. I don't think it would though.
