4.7 more power than 5.2?

I have a 97 with a 5.2 in it, but at work, I have a newer one, 4.7 and it SCREWS compared to mine.

Is that normal?

I'm thinking about doing a tuneup on mine and because mine shifts so low, I'm going to adjust the shift linkage to let it go a tad higher in shifting...

BUT that 4.7 is incredible...damn...i'm jealous...

Any thoughts???

The 4.7 is a higher revving engine then the 5.2 and generates more HP. Late this year a new 4.7 will be ready that generates even more HP.

Actually the 4.7 makes 5 more hp then the 5.2 and the 5.2 makes 5 more tq then the 4.7 so they a very similar in performance.

I like the 4.7 alot better than the 5.2 can't go wrong with the SOHC.

The 4.7 is a kickass engine. I'd choose it over the 5.2 or 5.9 anyday. The new 4.7 will be pushin 260 HP and 310 tq. The 2001 Motorsports Ed. pushes 271 HP and 310+ tq. Gotta love it!

question for ya. where are you getting your h.p. an tq. numbers for the 2001 from? my window sticker says mine only has 230 h.p./4800 rpm and 295ft-lb/3200rpm.

the new h.o 4.7 will have 260 hp and im not sure on the tq. that will be on going in the 2005 dakotas soon but they are heaver then our models also they did play around and sick a hemi in a dakota for testing. if u search on the internt u can find it. its white and blue and would of cost 31 thousand but it ran a 12 somthing stock i think or a 13.
