Really dont know as I bought this D from a private owner and not a dealer. When he gave me his paperwork it just showed ABS not listing what type of ABS 2wd or 4wd. How would I find out?

If you have an ABS sensor that is going bad or is not reading correctly, the ABS computer could read that as wheel slippage and activate the ABS.

That's not how ABS works. You have it backwards. When you apply the brakes in an ABS equipped system, the ABS senses wheel or axle stopping and releases brake pressure to prevent wheel lock up.
2 wheel ABS was standard. 4 wheel was optional. To verify if you have 4 wheel ABS http://www.durangoclub.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=775&highlight=abs
