Is there anything that could stop the paint rubbing off?

Could try sanding on the inside of the tonneau to avoid contact in that area. Might also try some LaminX or 3M paint protection film and apply it to the bed...you'd have to reapply every so often though , tonneau would rub through eventually.
Now, how about more details on that LPG setup? Very interesting!

The LPG system is just like the normal petrol system:
• LPG injectors
• LPG fuel tank in spare wheel
• LPG ECU
• LPG Filler near rear license plate
You start the engine on petrol, then after 1 mile the LPG system builds enough pressure and switches to LPG. Saving me 50% on fuel costs compared to that of petrol.
I’ll post pictures and dyno details when my new exhaust system is installed.

I've seen LPG on vehicles before, just never on a Dakota...its very cool. I can imagine the savings you realize with the fuel prices over there.

That LPG setup is cool I almost bought a cng vehicle (bi fuel) but the parents didnt like the idea even though we had a refueling station one mile away from the house. But i've alaways been consitering getting a lpg conversion on my 4.7 from technocarb (which is located in my state) but they only offer the venturi kits and sequential injection seems too pricy for me. So i'am stuck with crappy old low octane expensive polluteing gasoline.
how mutch did it cost you to convert?

The converison cost £1,000 about $500. That turns around 160 miles on a full tank of gas @ 41.1p/ltr costing £26 to fill up, not bad when petrol is costs 95.4p/ltr :)
