I am looking into having a big batch of 16oz glass mugs made for the website - existing subscribed members who renew for a 2nd+ year will get one free as part of a renewal packet, and everyone else will be able to purchase them individually.

I would use a basic picture with a Dakota and a Durango from the avatar photos, but they're low-res and not suitable for printing. So now I'm enlisting some help from the users here, because I am not good with Photoshop/graphics at all.

I would like to see a graphic which uses one STOCK Dakota and one STOCK Durango. Both vehicles should be the same color, and they should be one of the most common colors (ie: white, flame red, black, intense blue). R/T's would probably be preferred for both vehicles because they came with color-matched bumpers, improved wheels, etc. I do NOT want to have to deal with modified vehicles, because there's simply no way to fairly pick just one vehicle out of the huge user base here, and I'm trying to appeal to the masses as much as possible.

PS - The person who comes up with the winning design will get a mug for free when the mugs are done.

Here's a rudimentary design I'm looking for...

that design is good. i think that just a plain stock r/t dakota and durango whould be great. I vote for intense blue of course.

Here's another sample... Curious whether people would be more interested in seeing 4 trucks (Gen III Dak, Gen IV Dak, Gen I Dur, Gen II Dur) instead of 2, but the trucks would each be smaller.

personal i like it better with the two only:onethumb:

perhaps if people liked 4 trucks, but you're worried about the size, you could do 2 on either side.............

as my Jimi is a lefty, he would appreciate that because then the mug would be ambidextrous.

x4 on the IB, but i would be happy with mopar "M" and dodge logo, or even a coffee mug as could be a tad cheaper.

Unfortunately I can't use the Mopar or Dodge logo, because of licensing issues.

I'll see how things look once we get the artwork done - I was originally thinking about using black or graphite ink, but intense blue would probably look good too.

As far as I can tell there's not a significant difference in price between glass mugs & coffee cups - the big money's spent on the color screening (prepping artwork for printing), the printing itself, the packaging, the shipping & insurance, etc.

How about just the R/T symbol with the Dak.-Dur. logo under it. It doesn't have to be color. They can make the letters look etched or blown into the glass.
I know, I know, not everyone has an R/T, but everyone has there own version of one.
I'll drink to that!!!

not everybody drives an r/t... and not everybody wants to drive an r/t... i'd rather drive my 4x4 dakota with its peeling paint any day over an r/t...

I would like to see at least one 4x4 Dakota represented on the Mug, i could care less which color it is.

I didn't know it would bother you that much! (R/T Hater!)

Hey Steve, How about a Ram Head with that etched or blown look. Still having the Dak.-Dur. under it.

This way some people who don't like R/T's don't feel left out!:nana:

you could always do some gen I and gen II stuff for the gen I and II owners and do the gen III and gen I durango's together and then do gen IV dak and gen II durango together....

Glen Renzoni already makes glass mugs with just the R/T symbol on it. I believe he's only making the 32oz bomber mugs at $25/ea.

I think the Ram's head is also copyrighted. I know at least a couple of people over the years who received nastygrams in the mail because they started selling items that had various Dodge logos on them.

I can get away with pictures of the vehicles and my own website URL.

Unfortunately everything has to be ordered and paid for in advance, and the only way for me to make these financially feasible is to order them in bulk and hope that I can recoup what I've spent through site supporter memberships or individual sales. I'm still recovering from the big bucks I spent to have the t-shirts made, although I do have a lot left in stock for future subscriptions.

The base products themselves (the blank glass mugs) aren't that expensive, but the process of having the artwork prepped for printing, the printing itself, the packaging, the shipping, the insurance, etc. is what really adds up - it would really cost a fortune to have more than one batch done with different designs.

I'm going to try and make a design that's as universal as possible, but I also don't want to have to print a ton of trucks on each mug - a number of people think the website t-shirts are a bit too cluttered, I don't want the same feedback from the mugs.

are the trucks getting printed on or etched?
it would be cool if we could get them etched on like

They will most likely be printed, not etched. The glasses by themselves don't cost very much, but costs can really spiral out of control once you add artwork/screen/plate fees, boxes, shipping & insurance (to me), shipping & insurance (to you), not to mention frilly options such as 2-sided printing, multi-color or full-color printing, etching, yada yada...
