Ok my center seat section has the storage compartment in the back of it cause I have the bucket seats and the strap on the compartment that you fold down broke on the side closest to the driver seat. How hard is it to remove to fix or can I just get a new flip down section or what? Kinda mad it broke but I guess it's one of those things that just happens. Have the light gray interior and its a reg cab.

to remove it you have to pull the entire seat frame out....both seats. the center section is bolted on the front and riveted on the rear.....not sure how to just take the top off though......i just got done trading my center seat console for the regular console

Damnit. That's what I thought was going to be the response.

If its liek mine ( two bucket seats and a flip up center arm rest that becomes a center seat) the whole thing is riveted together. i did it by myself and it was a PITA to get it back in and to take it out. i suggest you have a buddy help you. its not hard with two people but by yourself it sucks

thanks for the info. Is there any way to just replace that section that flips up to become the center seat back without tearing out both seats along with the center section? I haven't looked real close yet but you would think there would be an easier way.

I believe you can unbolt the seats flip them forward or backwards whichever is easier, and then undo the middle section, i believe its bolted to the mounts that are riveted to the seats.

That's it. Just know that if you take the whole center piece out, seat and all, you'll have four black bars sticking halfway across your transmission hump.

he is referring to the center seat back...not the entire center seat

I really just need to replace the center seatback section. I like having that little bit of extra storage especially in the reg cab.

i would just say that if you can...get the other center console if you dont ever put more than 2 people in your truck...the other console has more space in it

Yep it would interfere. the shifter would sit almost right in the center of the tray in the front tht sits on the trans tunnel. Looks good though.

well if you are able to you could modify it...but i will tell you, that type of center console has a quiet a bit of storage room....but if not, good luck on fixing yours...i wish i was able to help with it more

Hard to find, but they did make a center console for the manual, but you can always make a custom one.

Unfortunately I do sometimes have to use that center "seat" if you can call it one. Makes shifting a pain in the ass though so normally whoever sits there is the shifter. Just have to make sure we get the timing right with the clutch n all.

Sorry it took so long to get pics, had to resize and edit. This is what broke and also how the 5 speed trucks are set up as far as the placement of the tray on the trans tunnel.

thats really just a plain ole plastic piece that i can tell....but i can see why you want to replace it....but i still have no idea how to.....but is that a tray under the jump seat? thats pretty cool....yours is a 98 and i know the interiors have changed....but i thought that there was a little center tray that also had cup holders on by the stick.....i hope that you get it figured out....i found out that the center console wont work too well with the t-56 install i want to do....cause i want to keep the shifter in the place that it is in when in the viper....i don't want it in the factory location
best of luck...hopefully someone will chime in with beneficial input

Yep the cupholders pull out just under the center seat bottom. It was kinda strange when i first got the truck cause i was looking all around for them and couldn't find it. Obviously I did find the cupholders but the strange thing is in the winter it's always really cold right there almost like there's a vent or something isn't sealed under there and letting air in.

If your worried about the center console interfering, get the right console the one shown in theearlier pic was 01 and up get a 97-2000 console, ive seen em in reg cabs and factory manuals, and there is no interference.

if you are referring to me...no center console except a custom one will work when i get the t-56 installed....the shifter is father back...almost in between the seats....works better for short throw shifting...and to me its more comfy

I'll have to look and see what I can find. I've got a few other things that I need to get done first.
