I have a 98 dak sport, 5 speed 318, the first to second gear time is extremely short, i mean like i get 10 feet and it's time to change, i think it's due to the fact that it's meant to maybe haul stuff for massive tourque, but all i want to know is what is a good set of gears, or a gear to lengthen the first gear out...i mean literally 2 seconds and i have to shift, and this is normal driving not heavy on the throttle.

You're right about the hauling. Trucks are geared much differently than cars for this reason. I haven't done my rearend yet, so I don't know from first hand experience; but I hear that 3.92 final ratio is perfect for the Dakota. There's an equasion to where you can figure out how you want your gears to run so that you get the shift points you want, but I don't know that off the top of my head.
