View Full Version : 2000 ball joint recall

does any body know the specifics of this recall...
i have a dakota sport 3.9 2wd. and im pretty sure that the ball joints are going. would this be apart of that recall or is it strictly 4x4.


also has anyone had any problems with loosness in steering wheel? i have a little wiggle where it doesnt move the wheels

I brought my truck to the dealership and they told me that some of them are covered on the recall and that dodge put out an extended warranty on the others. Mine wasn't on the recall but with the warrenty I didn't have to pay anything.

My 2001 2wd was in that recall, Dealer was going to put the same junk back in they took out. I had Moog ball joints put in. That was at 30,000 mi.

Did the dealer put those in or did you buy them from somewhere else?

I picked them up and my friend has a shop, so he put them in. F**k them dealers, they have a recall and there going to replace the bad parts with parts that are going to do the same thing in another 30,000 mi. NOT in my truck.

check your tie rod ends and also your idler arm/ pitman arm for wear.

I had to replace my idler arm a while back it can give you some sloppy steering issues. Apparently there are two sizes of idler arms so make sure you double check which one you have.
