Ball Joints?

My truck (98 3.9) was squeaking so I got it checked out and my ball joints were bad as well as the tie rod ends. This was maybe a year ago, now its back and my upper ball joints look fine but my lowers are destroyed looking. Has anyone had ball joint issues before, how hard is it just to swap it out myself. I've heard that this is a semi-common dakota problem. anyone?

Pretty common problem with the daks and durangos. If you had them replaced already then you should be able to just unbolt them and bolt in the new ones I believe. But if their stock I hear they will be HELL! I just got my truck back from my mechanic who changed the stock balljoints and tie rods for $150.

I just got a new lower ball joint for one of the sides on the truck, there both bad but im just gonna replace the one thats worst for now. I know you have to take off a number of things before you can replace the ball joint but i dont think its worth taking to a mechanic. Maybe 1-2 hours max if your not real mechanically inclined. Ill google and see if i can find anything to help and repost if i do.
