Well, I did very little on the Dakota this weekend. Put the truck on the lift and took a look at my mounts and sprayed a little PB Blaster on them in preparation for the body lift. Found my muffler is rusting out and transmission pan gasket in leaking.

On my way to work today I hit a deer and messed up my 1988 Chrysler Fifth Ave. Man that sucks. So went home and got the 1987 Dak registered and insured and took it to work today after sitting since the summer on 2005. It's only puttered around the house since that time only going a mile from home.

The only thing that happened is it just dies from time to time. Feels like all the power is just shut off. I pull to the side of the road and restart and go again. Anybody know what might cause this?

I hope we have found the problem with the truck dying. It died on me twice yesterday and would not restart the second time. Got a ride home and my father-in-law went back to get it. We went and picked up an ignition module for the distributor and then went to check on the truck. It fired right up. (Once it cools down it usually will restart.) Drove home and installed the new module. Made it to work today (42 miles one way) without it dying. I sure hope that fixes the problem.

When was the last time you changed the battery?

The battery in the truck is 3 years old.

Since we installed the new ignition module in the distributor, the truck starts and runs good. I've been driving it to work for two weeks and it hasn't cut out once since we replaced the module. Looks like we fixed it. The truck ran fine before but when the module got hot, it would cut out and not restart. After the truck cooled down, it would start and go again.
