can anyone confirm or deny that this is a normal sounding universal joint noise common to the Durnago? It is prominant when shifting from Neu > Rev. Very noticable "clunk". 00 R/T has 35,000 mi on the OD.
any help would be appreciated

I had the same exact problem with my 03 Dakota RT. I took it back to the dealer and it turned out to be the drive shaft that was bad and not the U joint. The dealer knew right away what was wrong and in a day they had the drive shaft replaced.
It was a silent re-call according to the dealer. The drive shaft is made of two pieces, the yoke is pressed fitted into the main body of the shaft and this is where the problem is. The noise was so loud I thought that the back lash in the rear end was out of adjustment.
After they replaced the drive shaft the noise went away but now after about 5 months it is back again. I have scheduled another visit to the dealer next week for this and a re-call for the wiper motor.
