i personally wouldnt use that...because after a lil while...it starts to rust. also, if you arent ultra careful, youll scratch the inside edges of your grille from the cut edges. I personally would go the extra mile and buy some inserts from Grillecraft. But thats just me :)

I have, looks good and only cost $5 bucks. Its aluminum so it doesnt rust (had them on for almost 2 years) Attatched with safety wire. I'll try and get some pics this weekend.

Go to autozone and pick up some of the door edge guards. They come in all colors and will give you a clean edge to the wire mesh.

I bought mine on ebay, not gutter mesh, but perforated aluminum in honeycomb shape. Not Zip tied on, actually screwed into the back of the old grill piece. Very secure and permanent. Also got a hood latch relocation bar, check link for the product on ebay.

I have/had (until next week) the same grill inserts as silverbullet just bought. They look nice for a bit, but after awhile being so cheap/thin they tend to dent, bend and so on. And if you paint them, even with primer, paint, then clear coat, they chip like crazy. But something that can be temporary, or if you don't mind changing them every 12 months, not too bad.

I would personally spend the money and get the street scene grilles or some type of billet grill. They are made out of aluminum and wont rust and they also look better than the do-it-yourselfer grilles IMO of course.

wow this thread is really old, i got the e-mail yesterday andi was like....um a little late for a reply. lol
I did it on my buddys old 99 Dak and it looked good but did not hold up well and he could not get to his hood latch, i would just buy a speed grille.

On my '97 Dak I used "gutter guards" in my shaker hoodscoop and Hot glued them in with the black rubbery glue sticks and 4 years later they still look tits!
This pic is not very bright but you might be able to see them!
