I found a 1994 Dakota 2wd sport, green, 3.9, auto. It's only got 52k miles on it, and it's in pretty good shape. I think I can get it for about $2600.
I'm used to big power... I recently had to sell my 02 Ram 2500 cummins/6 speed with 509hp and 1023ft/lb tq because of budget constraints... so now I'm looking for a more economical toy.
Basically I just want something that's going to get good enough mileage to get me to work economically (40 miles each way) and have enough balls to be fun to drive. I know the 3.9 is whimpy and the 5.2 gets the same mileage if not better. I also have been doing enough reading to know that swapping the 5.2 in isn't as simple as it may sound. I would buy a car but I need to haul around my sport quad.
So do you guys think it would be a good deal? And do you guys think it's worth buying it with the intent of slapping a mildly built 5.2L engine and tranny in?
