Hey!

I just found this site off the Mopar webring.

I currently run a few motorcycle message baords..

If I can offer a small bit of advice....

By keeping your forums viewable only to registered users you prevent the web bots of the search engines from finding your site and the content.

If your site has open access the "bots" will actually search all your posts and include them in their "rating" system.

I have been searching for some info on my Dakota for a few weeks and this site NEVER came up in a search engine...

I've been going back and forth with the guys at Google trying to figure out what's going on with everything... Six months ago this site was the #1 search on the internet for "Dodge Dakota", beating out even Dodge's website. Even though my site's hits/visitors are constantly going up, the page keeps dropping like a rock on Google's ranks.

What's really screwy is that I know this site is cross-linked from at least 200-300 different sites, but when you do a link check on Google it only shows about 15 of them. I think a lot of those spam sites have figured out search engine algorithms and are flooding the web with whatever keywords are necessary to make their sub-search pages appear first.

Part of search engines rankings is content.

By locking down the forums you are "hiding" your content.

can we not make it to where guest can see the board and read up on things but not post until they join? Maybe this could get more people on the board?
