Here are some pics of Bushwacker Street Flares I recently bought for my 99 Dak. These come in a matte black, and are very smooth. They appear to only need a good once-over with a soapy rag to clean any fingerprints off, before being ready for paint. I plan on painting Flame Red to match my truck.
shoot me questions if you have any.
(bought from Truckperformance.com for $258.39 shipped! they have a $10 ship deal going on and they're on sale, act now!)

yeah dude, I like the looks of em. The set back line doesn't bother me much, I think it looks like the body lines of the truck. Seem to be nice quality, can't wait to get em painted this weekend. I'll keep you guys posted with pics on the painting/install.

I've been thinking of getting some of those for my D, too. How much wider are they than the stock flares?

they are not wider than the stock flares. these flares are 3/4" coverage (past the fender) and are intended for stock wheel sizes. If you want more tire coverage, then get what is called "Extend-a-Fender which offers 1-1/2" of tire coverage. It's all on their website. here is a link directly to our trucks.

yeah justin, I'm gonna put the trim on, I don't want the edge scraping up against my paint (even though I'm sanding down the edges a little)

updated pics as of 12/9/06
Flares have since been installed and gotten dirty :(
as you can see, these flares fit every curve of the truck PERFECTLY. I'm extremely impressed with Bushwacker. I would buy again.
Installed pics to follow....

Awesome - cept your trucks not in the pictures.
What did you paint them with? When I got mine someone had tried to paint them red, instead of fooling with it I just took them to my bed liner guy and had him shoot them. I also don't have the protectors, but the bed liner rolls over the edge. They look good! Let's see them on the truck.

I painted em with Martin Senour Paint from NAPA. They did a color match with the clear coat mixed in. Piece of cake. For those of you with a better sheen on your trucks, you might want an additional coat of clear on top of the 3 coats of paint.
as far as pics go......
well, it's a beautiful cloudy rainy day here in WI, so this is the best I could do.........today. I'll get better ones when the weather turns not so crappy. I snuck out at work to get this one. :biggthump

do you have to have that black trim on there with them? is it paintable atleast?
DakWithCheese
02-15-2007, 02:47 PM
I wouldn't say you "have to" put the trim on, but I would recommend it. Depending on the color of your truck, it may not be as visible. I like it because I have not gone monocolor yet on mine, so I still have the black on red theme. The trim piece will prevent the flare from scratching your fender paint. It is a flexible rubber that is only paintable if you add a flex additive to your paint. I would not recommend painting it, but to each his own. If you don't want it on there, then just round off the edge enough so you can live with it rubbing on your paint. Hope this helps :onethumb:

Do those mount with 3M tape around the outer edges as well? Or just screw in to the wheelwell?
All and All I really like the way they look :onethumb:
DakWithCheese

the only place there is 3m is on the edge trim. The rest just screws in.
Thanks for the compliments!
