So I Found Out ..

That sometimes an open rear end diff sometimes lets both tires loose. I was in my work parking lot last night .. had an awsome day at work so i felt like celebrating, dropped the clutch at 4 grand then slammed it into 2nd and both tires broke loose and started goin sideways, this was on dry pavement btw (3.9 v6 CC 5spd) my friend in the passenger seat just sat there starin at me with his jaw dropped.
BUT if both tires start spinnin with an open does that mean the diff is goin bad? lord i hope not .. ha but at the same time i hope so. if it does then that means new gears (4.56) and a LSD!!!

It just means that both tires got equal traction..Thers is nothing realy to go out in an open diff..unless the spider gears are binding.

oh thank god, kinda dissapointing though, i really want those 4.56 (still 17 and livin with dad .. he makes rules still)

no nothin wrong with it. but if you want those gears and an lsd or locker you can do what i did when i was your age so my dad wouldnt have any say in what i did to my truck. get a job (i worked at a repair shop so that helped) and save up the cash on the side and do it and tell him after. actually most of the time i never told him. he wasn't interested in cars so i waited till he noticed. sometimes he never said anything though i hoped he noticed some things. it should be obvious when there is a different hood on the vehicle. :jester:

Hell ya me 2 man, just make sure he dont find out your spendin your extra money on your truck when you owe him alot of $$ ....that will piss him off pretty good ...ahh....memories :jester:

yea same here. and besides that my parents are always snoopin in my account to see how much i got. 4.56 and an lsd installed by a good shop is like a total of around 600 right? i dont trust myself istalling those bymyself, never worked near a diff yet and this is my only ride, so im not jumping in somwhere ive never been.

My open diff will spin both about half the time when I try. I really want an LSD, but I don't race my truck I don't drive it inthe rain or snow anymore, so there no hurry for me. I have 3.92 gears stock.
