Is this unit worth the $400 bucks or is a limited slip (Eaton/Aurburn) a better choice for a daily driver 99 RC 4X4 with a 3.9? It has an open dif now and when it's raining I get major wheel spin going around a corner with very little throttle. Winter is coming and the 4X4 will be required to get out of the county. The closet major road is 4 miles away.
Thks

If your main concern is wheel spin around wet corners, I don't think a locker is what you are looking for. With a locker, both wheels will probably spin in corners, causing a nice fishtail.
What tires are you running?

Yeah, Lockers are actually worse in snow and slipper conditions. I would look into getting an LSD. The locker can get a bit annoying in a daily driver. Tires are going to be your best thing for traction in rain.

Get a locker. They are fine in rain. I can actually pull out in the rain now and not spin. Just dont be a jack ass because the ass will swing out if you have your foot to the floor on a rainy day.
Also my locker isnt one bit anoying. I cant even tell its back there except when I launch and it actually hooks up.

Well, Yallvgot automatics - I guess that makes a diffrence. I can feel the black lash, and I can feel when Its spooling and not. The first corner you take it is obvious the locker is there. I do like how I can feel the power shift from one side of the truck to the other then both, that's pretty cool. I can not confirm the slippage in rain cause of my tires. I went into a big parking lot while it was just pouring and tried to slide around and all I heard was tire barking against pavement. But I have experience the sliding sideways effect, which can get a little intersting.

I agree, you can definitely tell it's in there. Our D is the wife's car, and after I installed the Powertrax No-Slip, she was complaining for a week straight. I drove it, and sometimes you can tell it is in there on corners, but if you take corners slow and easy, it's hard to tell that it is in there.

Detroit all the way.. I have a 15.50 inch wide tire and if you go slow around sharp corners you only feel slight tire bitewhen you accelarate out of the turn. they are made to allow for the mechinizim to open and close when you let off the trottle. But when you go back on the trottle halfway around the turn it locks up agian..But for harsh conditions any locker can add more traction then a open diff or limeted slip hands downhttp://i117.photobucket.com/albums/o70/magnu360/DSCF1393.jpg

I installed a powertrax no-slip in my TJ. Wouldn't recommend it for a DD. No way. Huge difference in town -- especially in parking lots when you made tight turns. As for the wet weather, I never had problems until I installed the locker. All the sudden my little 2.5L was breaking my 33" tires loose on a regular basis (during rain).
Don't get me wrong -- I wheeled my Jeep a lot. Going from no locker to a locker was like going from 2wd to 4wd... HUGE difference. I just wouldn't do it in my DD. Of course my Dakota has the LSD. :biggthump

Be carful with the Powertrax. I had one in my Isuzu and according to Power trax it was rated for 450hp in a 7.5 rear ,I was at the stip and launch it got about 25 feet and she let go. they refunded my money for the unit but not for any other damage. Put a Detroit in and have fun Oh and befor any one says an ISUZU, yes, 400 horse at rear wheels, aluminum headed 383  ,2800 lbs of FUN
