I have a 2000 Durango with the factory Infinity stereo. I would like to add a subwoofer. Can anyone provide installation instructions or a link.
Thanks,
Chris

Well, you will need an amplifier to power the subwoofer. That will then require a n amplifier installation kit and a head unit that has a pre-amp RCA output (or you can purcahase a high-low converter). Then you need to pick out the Subwoofer/s that you would like and pick a corrosponding box. Once you have the sub/s, take the RMS power handling of them and get a 2 channel amplifier that has at least the amount of power to cover the RMS power of the subwoofers. Then you need to pick out your amplifier installation kit. If the amplifier power is over 1000 watts, you need a 4 gauge power wire. If it is ness than 500, you can use a 10 gauge. If it is between 500 and 1000, use an 8 gauge. To wire it all up, you hook the RCA cables to the pre-amp output on the back side of the head unit (factory does not have this) or to the high-low converter. While you are behind the dash, you will also need to locate your remote power wire (aka. on sensory wire) and tap into that and run the wire to the amplifier. Then you run the power wire through the vehicle and connect it to the battery's positive side. Then you find the location where you will have the amplifier and find a spot where you can sand down some paint and get to bare metal so that you can then ground it (this has to be BARE metal). Then you can connect the wire to the corrosponding locations on the amplifier. From there you can position the subwoofers and run speker wires to the sub/s and finish the install. Be sure to fuse it (amplifier installation kits come with in-line fuses) and if you run more than 1000 watts, you might want to consider a power capicator to aid your alternator (installation instructions for that come with the capicator).
Hope this helped you with your project! I don't think i missed anything, but i might have... if i did, i am sure someone else will catch it. Good luck!
