I have a similiar problem... When i first got my truck, i noticed that the brakes squeeked a little. After a couple of months, i took the turck to Midas (you know, the supposed brake specialists) because it also started to pulsate, not to mention that it was getting pretty embarrassing at the drive throughs. So they looked at it and said nothing seemed to be wrong. I asked them if the felt the pulsing and heard the squeeking when they went to brake. They told me yes, but they could not find the problem... Some brake specialists... :slap:

when you say your truck is pulsating...do you mean the whole truck is jerking or the steering wheel is shaking, is it only when you brake or when you stomp the throttle also?

For me it is mainly the steering wheel and only when i am braking.

your rotors could be starting to go bad...

One area to look at is how the rims are being installed. You can over torque the lug nuts and warp the rotors. You must follow the torque sequence and not over tighten the lug nuts. This is a common mistake made by a lot of shops. The effect usually takes a few thousand miles to show up.
Unless I missed it you did not mention the calipers. Take a close look at them to make sure the calipers are in good working order. Another item that some shops leave out is the thin plate located behind each of the disc pads, the plates absorb sound.

yeah i havent changed the calipers.... but when it does pulsate the truck still stays striaght it doesnt try to pull one way or the other.... as far as torque.. i called my dealer, and they told me that the torque rating is 110ft lbs, i thought that was kinda high considering there are 6 lugs... will over tightening mess up the drums too???

after re-evaluating my brakes, i found that the entire truck does pulsate and i think this weekend i and going to take off the rims and check everything out myself.

I’m not sure about the torque rating that the dealer gave you but if the sequence is not followed it will play havoc on the rotors. Over tightening the rims on drums will not warp them but it will destroy the rims and lugs.
I would take the truck back to the dealer that installed the breaks and have them check the run out on the rotors. The max run out is 0.004” any number over this and the rotors must be turned or replaced.

Welcome to the club. Seems as tho Chrysler no longer wants to help the customer. Unfortunately a good number of us Dak. owners are in the same boat. I have a '00 club cab, bought it new and only have 40,000 miles on it. I am on my 2nd set of rotors and its shaking again. It is definitely not that I have abused the truck. I understand from several repair shops that it has a lot to do with inferior metal used in making the rotors. I'll just tighten the seat belt and brake on.
2 sets of rotors in 30,000 same pulsating problem.I replaced them with the power stop rotors from summit. These are cross drilled and only 75.95 each.So far so good,I have about 20,000 miles and they stop smoothly the may even stop a little better than the stock ones.I also bought the pad set that goes with them 29.99. Call summit 1-800-230-3030 get them in 3 days.

The FSM lists the torque settings of the lug nuts as 85-115 ft.lbs. which is a bit vague, so I split the difference and just torque mine to 100 ft.lbs.

while i know it isnt a dodge, my sisters altima has been having the same problem. I saw that the pads dont sit on the rotor just right and the brake mouting bracket could be the problem, im not sure how your brakes are but my 03 is set up th esame way as hers and if the mounting bracket ist true the rotor it could cause problems like premature wear and warpage(pulsating),,,its all just a guess tho

well im really glad that im not the only one that that has this stupid ass problem, i mean i love my truck but there have been alot of dumbass problems with it.... so as far as the brake problem i am gunna have all the rotors and drums turned and then retorque the wheels... and if that dosent work i am thinking about putting on the " big brake" kit... and see if that helos cuz one of the things that i things cuzes this problem is that the rotors seem to be too small for the size of the wheel.....my truck came stock with 16"s and i havent changed that... but the rotors are pretty damn close to the size of my fathers 93 sentra.... go figure!!!!!, too big of a wheel to stop with a toy rotor... but ill see what happens.. thank you again...

I have the same problem. After a few thousand miles after replacing, my brakes get as warped as John Kerry's face. I think its just a curse with Chryslers.

i put them on with stock pads and they have been awsome, no warpage and they really do seem to stop better. they took a few hundred miles to break in but after that i was very impressed.

How many miles do you have on them now? I'm leary to buy stuff like this on eBay, since I'm afraid they are cheap rotors that have been modified.
