I am looking for a hard tonneau cover, the catch is it's a quad cab WITH a bed box that I will not remove. Is there one out there than might work?

It's funny you mention that. I assummed that would be the case and have already started on it, I was just hoping there was a better way. I really don't thnk this is going to turn out bad at all, in fact, it's going to look pretty damn good.

Here is one side of the inside of the bed. I installed aluminum channel on each side to hold the channels that I installed onto the tonneau sections. There is a sprung pin lock on each side that inserts a pin into the aluminum channel to keep it locked in place.

Here is the forward most top section, the tonneau will be in two sections, removable independantly. I am going to cover them in the same coating I did the bed in, so they'll match perfectly. They are also going to be flush with the top of the bed.

Damn, those are some nice options! I think I'll be utilizing that first link in a couple monthes, thanks for those. I had no idea I could get something like that!

Got as far as I could today, take a look! I finished the first section, notched the rail to accept the latches and played with a pic to get an idea of what it will look like when it's done.

Here's the latching mechanism.

Here is what it'll look like before I redo the bedliner and do the covers to match.

I was going to mention buying a standard Checkmate FX and hacking it down to match since they're so simply constructed, but I had never seen that you could order one from them to whatever spec you want, and for only $60 extra - nice.

wow that looks really good!!! I'm very impressed with your homebrew, looks like you don't need a custom one.

just wondering but what are you doing to redo your headliner?

No, I said bedliner, referring to the roll-on bedliner I did. I need to redo it on the boards to seal them up and match the truck.

thats very cool for a custom job on a budget. good job. You may have done this and maybe I missed, but did you consider doing like a tongue and grove set-up so it would seal the sections better against the rain and everything?

Actually, the pic above was a photochop. The actual finished (semi-finished) product turned out a little different. Instead of three, there are only two pieces. The forward section locks into place, but the rear section is hinged to lift. I added a tongue to the rear of the rear cover and cut a slot in the inside of the tailgate. I'll take some pics and post'em up tomorrow.

The last thing I need to do, besides the final finish, is figure a way to seal up between the two sections better.
