Tire Pros Truck & 4x4 Nationals & Aftermarket Expo (aka Truckin' Nationals)
October 21-22, 2006
Phoenix, Arizona
Firebird Raceway
www.firebirdraceway.com

This event is being held Saturday/Sunday, October 21/22 at Firebird Raceway in Phoenix, Arizona. Every year we get anywhere from 24-30 Dakota R/T's in attendance plus a handful of other Dodge trucks to come drag race and have a great time. This event also attracts a number of Ford Lightnings and other performance trucks, plenty of 10-16 second competition will be on hand plus a handful of 6-9 second Pro Street trucks.

There is also a car show (trucks only) if you do not wish to race. However, the drag racing pits & car show parking is separated, if you want to come hang out with the bulk of the Dodge crowd, I recommend registering for racing, even if your truck isn't a screamer.

The Dakota R/T Club is always the largest single club at this event, and because of our consistant participation levels they have offered us a group registration discount. Normally this event costs $50.00 for Sat/Sun for the driver, plus $35 in advance ($38 at gate) per spectator.

The DRTC group rate (you do not need to own an R/T to register with us) is $35.00, and must be paid in advance. This group rate includes one driver admission for both days, one spectator admission for both days, plus an event t-shirt. DO NOT REGISTER ONLINE OR PAY FIREBIRD RACEWAY DIRECTLY. The DRTC group registrations must be collected paid by the group, and I have been the person who has volunteered to collect these registrations for the past four years.

E-Mail your registration information (name, address, phone, e-mail address), vehicle information (car show or racing, and whether you run 15.00 or slower, 13.00-15.00, or 12.99 and faster in the quarter mile), and t-shirt size to webmaster@dakota-durango.com. Since I have to use my credit card to submit everyone's registrations at once, I must have your funds in hand and cleared at least 7-10 days before the event. I would prefer to not have to deal with personal checks, so please send me a money order (you can get them for less than a buck at 7-11, post office, banks, etc), or PayPal $37.00 (The extra $2 covers the fees they charge for the service) to webmaster@dakota-durango.com.

I MUST HAVE YOUR REGISTRATION INFO AND PAYMENT BY OCTOBER 12TH. If you want to go but will have to wait to pay until the last minute, e-mail me anyways in case alternative arrangements can be made.

PLEASE spread the word to everyone you know - there are a lot of people who attend this event who are not a regular user of the various Dodge Truck websites.

NOTE: If you are not planning on bringing a guest, please let me know so I can collect your spare spectator pass - some people bring more than one guest so this can help save them some money.

RECOMMENDED HOTEL INFO:
Super 8 motel - 7171 W. Chandler Blvd, Chandler AZ
http://www.super8.com/Super8/control/Booking/property_info?propertyId=03073&brandInfo=SE

Most rooms come with 2 beds, and many people end up splitting a room here because it's close to the track, close to Hooter's, close to Duner's, etc. Leave a post in this forum if you're interested in splitting a room with someone to save money.

If you have any questions, please post them here or e-mail me at webmaster@dakota-durango.com. Please let me know ASAP if you are planning on attending so I can build our list for Firebird Raceway.

I know ill be going to the show but I wont be in the show. Besides the normal car show activitys they have monster trucks, tough truck, and free test drives of trucks on their little offroad thing. I would like to see some more dakota's in the show this year.

For what it costs to buy a weekend spectator pass and then walk in from the remote parking lots, you might as well sign up with the group registration rate and park inside with the rest of the trucks. Non-R/T's are welcome to hang out in the pits with the people who are racing, or you can find a spot in the car show to hang out. I dunno if the car show trucks are allowed to move, but the drag racers are traditionally allowed to come and go from the show as they please.

BUMP - I need to get confirmation from people who are planning on attending this event, and I need to get your registration $$ within the next week or two if possible.

PLEASE contact everyone you know who lives in AZ/CA/NV/UT/NM who may be interested in attending this event but may not keep up with the forums. It is very important that we get everyone setup with the group registration. Firebird goes out of their way to accomodate our group with the discounted price, free guess pass ($35 value), t-shirt, etc. and if we can't keep up with our status as the largest group every year, they may not be so helpful in years to come.

FYI - you do not need to own a Dakota R/T to get involved with this group registration, but you do have to own a truck to participate in the event.

PayPal $37 (covers their fee) to webmaster@dakota-durango.com, or I can PM you my snail mail address for a money order. Can't take checks unless you send them right now, because with my divorce/etc. I can't afford to cover any checks that don't clear in time or bounce. I'm still trying to figure out how to cover gas/hotel/etc. as it is...

What advantages are there to the group buy? I literaly live a stones throw away from firebird. I know for sure that I am going there but I dont know if I can go on sunday but I do have saturday off for sure. The truck needs some work to be fixed on the exterior and its a stock v6.

If you register directly with Firebird you have to pay $50, and you don't get the spare guest pass. I think you still get the t-shirt if you show up to the pre-registration event on friday night (they are first come first serve), our group will have their specific sizes set aside before the event.

I paid for the package and went on Sunday only. It breaks down like this if you do it this way.
1. Go to window to pick up registration package (if you don't do it with the group)
2. Go in special gate to special area with special people (with a guest!)
3. Laugh at idiots who have to pay to park and pay as much for one day as you do for two
4. Run down the track a couple of times for shits and giggles
5. Tour the facility, pick up slack, get lots of free t-shirts (yes, unfortunately some say Ford)
5. Relax, eat a sandwich and drink a cold one that you brought in.
6. Check out the cool goodie bag for participants

I wound up getting pretty ripped on expensive (but large) beers, and had to quit racing and leave a bit early. But a good time was had by all.

If you want to meet at dennys there is one on the I10 and chandler on the opposite side of the freeway from the Super 8. There is an Ihop at I10 and Ray, 5 In Diner at I10 and ray, Waffle house next to hooters near the I10 and chandler.

Also are we meeting both days before the track? Saturday I dont think I will be going.

Also there is no chance for me to get my waiver notorized at all. Do you think that they will let me race with a regular witness? If not I will end up just hanging out with you guys.

The registration list posted above was e-mailed to Firebird earlier today, sorry bpitz15 - as mentioned above get ahold of GoFastGrey, or talk to Ltngklr about using Russ Crow's registration. Worst case scenario talk to Michael Kessler at Firebird Raceway about the group registration.

FYI for those of you who have never attended this event... Your registration packet has been submitted to Firebird for processing, but everyone must pick up their own packet either Friday night at the pre-reg party (see URL's above or www.firebirdraceway.com for details), or on Saturday morning when you roll into the event (go into gate 1 by the lake, there will be a booth, just give them your name). Inside your packet should be a participant entry ticket, a guest entry ticket, a dash plaque, etc.

Firebird Raceway is setting aside all of the requested t-shirts ahead of the event, Mike Pitts (ltngklr) is collecting the t-shirts at the pre-reg party on friday night and will hand them out at the event. Everyone's names and the shirt sizes you requested are posted above in this thread.

A number of people usually get together at Duner's house on Friday night to hang out, have a few drinks, do some last minute CBE'ing, etc. - PM Duner to see if he's doing the shindig again this year and find out directions/contact info.

A number of people from out of state will be staying at the Super 8 motel at I-10 and Chandler Blvd, if possible the locals/etc. should swing over there and say hi to everyone.

Firebird Raceway is supposed to set aside about 23-25 parking spots next to each other in the pits for the Dakota R/T Club - make sure you guys park next to each other to show club unity.

I'm not 100% certain - you should probably call Firebird Raceway and confirm that for sure, or else make an arrangement with one of these other guys to pick up your packet and somehow get it to you saturday night or sunday morning.

In the past.
If you do not show up on Saturday and tech and such.
They will not let you race on Sunday.
It sucks, but a couple of my friends have run into this.
There is a restraunt accross from the Super8 that we have eaten at in the past.
Pretty good too!

OK, we usually have a problem ending up at the Titty bars Saturday night after Truckin.
If you want to have this problem too.
We will be meeting up at Duners house off Ray and I-10 about 9pm Saturday night for some Dollar entertainment.
I have arranged passes with one of our local boobie palaces for us to either get in free or get the first drink free.
If you all bring some girls....."SAM"...
All the better!

Just wanted to let you all know I got a phone call from Firebird Raceway, got confirmation that everything is taken care of for tomorrow's event.

If you have any issues arise while you're at the track, contact Sandy in the front office at Firebird Raceway and have her get ahold of Michael Kessler, that's who I have been working with out there. A number of the people at the event (ie: Mike Pitts, Scott Lane (DakotaLivLrg), etc. have my cell phone number if anything else pops up.

Unfortunately I won't be able to make it this year after all this planning - I usually bring my kids down and drop them off with my ex-wife's family while I'm at the event, but one of my ex's cousins is getting married a few days after this event so nobody has the spare time to watch the kids. I didn't want to have to bring all 3 of my kids to both days at the event, and it would have increased my costs beyond my budget. I will do my damndest to be at MATS again this upcoming year, hopefully with a fully functional truck with heads/cam/etc. done.

Everything's taken care of - forwarded the money to Mike Pitts, he will be picking up the M/L shirts and sending them to me along with Russ Crow's shirt, I will be forwarding them all along to their final destinations.

For some unknown reason the Truckin' event will be held again next April 28-29 2007. I'm sure it will be even warmer then. The entire event is really centered around the vendors row. Obviously the date has nothing to do with favorable racing conditions.

Truckin' has a springtime event every year, just a big poker run from SoCal to the event plus a car show at the destination. The first couple of years were down at the Fremont St. Experience in Las Vegas, but then they moved to Lake Havasu for the past couple of years. Maybe you're thinking about this event instead?

Don't thinks so ... They have flyers all over the place saying new date and such ..better show ...more catergorys .. and like Dunner said April 28, 29th for Trucking Nats next year..so six months  :cussing: only what 100 degrees late april....

Havasu is just a small truck show....that is also called the truckin spring nationals I think

Yeah, the springtime show has never really been very big - I was a spectator when it was held here in Las Vegas, met up with Scott Quaranta and Don MacDonald of all people for lunch while I was there. Havasu is just too far for me to go for a car show, from the magazine coverage it seems like a big frat party on boats anyways, without any hookups I'd probably be semi-miserable just observing.

blecch. Going to be interesting trying to get a crowd going next year with MATS and Truckin' about a month apart.

Can one of you guys grab a flyer and either scan it in, or send me all of the info so I can update the site calendar and work on a group registration for it?

So dispite a small group this year Truckin' was still pretty fun. I was cool to meet all the new guys to the group and just have some fun bullshittin' about our trucks. Kinda sucked not having much going on after the event on sat but was still a nice weekend away from the norm.

Congrats to Duner and Mike for their badass times and congrats to Kevin for taking 2nd in ST3!

The RT crew is now being nicknamed the "Red Light Team" RlT

See some of you in 6 months lol!

Oh and I checked the past weather and it says its only in the low 80's usually in April 28-29 area. So it might be similar weather to this year..
