View Full Version : hmm... what to do?

I'm 16 and one day I came home from school and my dad had bought me a 97 dak. He found it for a good price and it is pretty clean throughout.

I don't quite know what to do. Should I spend a little money on it and try to change the looks? Such as front fascia, grill inserts, fender flares, roll pan... ect? Or just leave it how it is?

I'm not going to do anything such as engine mods because, being a 2.5, I see it kinda as a waste. Besides I'm not really all too concerned with how fast (or slow) it is. I have a dirtbike for my speed addiction. The truck is just for getting me and my bike to various riding spots... But I wouldn't mind doing it in something which looks different than stock.

Also, I live in a small town. There is plenty of dakotas but none that I have seen has been modded. Everyone here mods civics and the other usual cars. So, some changes to the exterior of my dak might make it stand out a little more and get some attention.

Any opinions on what I should do?

definately get some rims. What color is your truck?

It's black. Rims are first on my list.

I'll probably just go with a set of 17". These won't rub will they? Also, will the larger wheels put more stress on things such as wheel bearings? and will the settings of the computer have to be changed or anything?

I'm new to all of this.

edit- I just looked at the pics of your truck. What you have done to yours is pretty much what I was thinking about doing to mine. Looks good.

No, they wont rub at all. I have a 2/3 drop on my truck and they dont rub at all. I dont really know if larger wheels will effect anything. I didnt have to change anything on my computer. I dont even think my speedometer is off and if it is it isnt that much. Thanks for the compliments on my truck. Let me know if I can help you with anything else.
