I was doing a search online for off roading spots that were free and close to NYC . I found one, and just to be sure i emailed the NJ DEP to see if i could off road there, this is what they wrote me back:
Glenn - "street-legal" vehicles and motorcycles are permitted within Wharton State Forest as long as they are registered, insured and driven by a licensed operator. If you 4x4 can legally be driven on public roadways then it can be driven within Wharton. Other areas where this is permitted is Bass River, Brendan Byrne and Belleplain State Forests.
So my question is..... has anyone ever been to or heard about any of these spots? even better is anyone planning on going out there any time and i could maybe tag along? Im dying to try out some trails, but none of my friends have trucks, so if i get stuck im SOL.
