I just recently purchased a used 98 Durango. I believe it has the 5.9liter engine and a 4 OD tranny.
1.The tranny feels like it's slipping and shifting oddly.

2.It also seems to make a slight, quiet grinding noise at slow excellerations and decelleration on occasion.

3.There is also a very quiet ticking or clunking while idling that can be heard only inside the car.

4.Also while steering, you can hear a swishing type sound while turning the wheel.

5.Also, strange squeeks and things in the suspention.

6.I know it has had a tranfer case in it and I have not tested the 4X4 yet, is there anything I should look for?

The vehicle has 80k on it and seems powerful and looks great. It starts up and goes good. I didn't have a lot of time while purchasing this truck, I trusted my knowledge of Dodge and a friend of a friend. If there is any info anyone may have for me about these noises on this truck, It would be greatly appreciated. I am feeling like, in spite of the decent price I paid for this, I might have gotten ripped off and might need to put a lot more $$ into it. Do you know? Is it worth it? What about this tranny, suspention, motor, ball joints? Anything? Thanks :help:
