I had to drop my '06 Dakota off yesterday at the dealership for some repairs.
Stuff they have to fix:
1. Vibration while braking
2. Windshield installed wrong must reinstall (the weather stripping is above the glass instead of below it, thus causing a flapping noise and a slight water leak from the bolt hole of the driver assist handle)
3. Safety Recall to reprogram the PCM
Plus gonna get them to change the oil while they have it. I'm already wishing they would hurry up and get it back to me. I'm stuck driving my Dad's Silverado while mine is in the shop. His is a nice truck but its a single cab and after enjoying all the space in my Quad; I feel a little cramped in the Chevy.

What is the PCM safety recall? Don't tell me it's the door open, not in park alarm some diesel truck owners have been recalled about.

It was a safety recall where they had to flash and reprogram the PCM in order to prevent the possibility of the lights and/or windshield wipers not working.

Got the truck back yesterday afternoon. Everything appears to be fixed now. Wow that was quick. They had to replace both rear axles, new shoes in the back, new pads in the front, & turn both rotors and drums. After all that the vibration while braking is gone.

check with your dealership and see if your truck is eligible for the F08 recall... it is an updating of the CCM (Cabin control module). Takes about a half hour tops. I do these every day. Very important... Check and see if you qualify.

Do you know if there was a TSB on that? I got some vibration braking from highway speeds on my '05, I'd like to get it fixed while it's still under warranty. Had it in once and they couldn't reproduce it.

The service manager said there was a TSB for it, although I never saw it in writing. I didn't attempt to look up it, but you can probably find it through google or the like.

Well i just got back from the Dealer for my '05 dakota, and they told me the same thing about the vibration. I need to have the rear axels replaced and the shoes. They already turned the front rotors, so now i'll be without my truck for a couple of days probably because of having to work 12's next week.
Hopefully everything will be good when i finally do get it back.

I looked it up, the TSB is:
05-004-05A
I called my local dealer and they've gone ahead and ordered the parts. Probably get it done next week. Summertime means rafting - heavy loads up and down moutainous highways, gotta get the brakes fixed.
