I am thinking about buying an ipod, but first I want to make sure it'll work in my truck without buying a bunch of other junk. I have an '06 Dakota with the auxilary plug in the front of the radio. Can I just plug my ipod into the aux. slot and listen away, or do I still have to have a FM transmitter?

Just plug your iPod (via cable) to the radio & you're good to go
(no FM transmitter needed--your factory radio is setup to work with an iPod/MP3 player)

What radio do you have in your truck?

It's the stock single CD player without satelitte radio. From what I read, in 2006 Dodge changed the radio a little bit and added the auxilary feature. In the bottom left side corner on the front of the radio; there is a female plug for an auxilary connection.
Ohh yeah, thxs for the info. snobrdrdan.
Be glad you have that '06 radio. I wanted to keep my '05 looking stock (no aftermarket radio showing) so I went the hard-wired aftermarket FM modulator. While it did work pretty well for the ipod (after changing to FM, changing channels, then hitting the switch hidden under the dash) my radio tuner never really worked well after it was installed.
I solved the problem a week ago: Kenwood KDC-MP732 with the KAC-iP500 ipod interface.

I had an '05 radio and picked up the '06 on e-bay for 35 bucks. Got an aux cord and away I was!
