I killed a '00 Civic Si. Literally. Was sittig at a stop light and this high school kid in a buzzed / riced out civic pulled up next to me and yelled out the window "wanna race?" Said sure I needed a good laugh. Light turned green hit the gas lit the tires up pretty good and off I went the civic right along side. Looked over the kids grinnin from ear to ear. Look back straight then all of a sudden hear this loud crack and a boom. Look to the side the civic ain't there. Look behind me the civic has smoke comin out from under his hood and the car is swerving. I lock my brakes up and swing back around to where the car had came to a stop. The kids freakin out bad. I look under the front and oil is just runnin out on the ground and the motor ain't runnin. I get the kid to pop the hood and there is a huge crack in his block and some scorched wires and lines. His block had let go or just detonated horribly. He was runnin a turbo too. I got the kid to put the car in neutral and we pushed it into a parking lot out off the street. Felt sorry for the kid so I gave him a ride to the gas station down the street. Last I saw of him he was about to cry and was calling his dad.

That race gave a whole new meaning to a kill. :explode: I guess that means I won. :D

Well, I wouldn't want to be left stranded. I had somebody do me a favor once after I tore my old truck up during a street race. I had this old '67 ford that was running about 400 horse and 500 ft/lb under the hood. Had 4.10 posi Ford 9" rear under the back. Went too race this '67 Vette with a 427 in it. Took off when the light changed and hear and felt this loud boom and the passenger side rear end of the truck dropped straight down and the motor died. Vette took off of course. I hoped out of my truck and ran around back looked underneath and my rear end had broke in half next to the pumpkin. Truck wasn't going anywhere. The guy in the Vette saw me and came back. He helped me push it off the road and then took me about a mile down to a gas station so I could call a wrecker. Said a lot about that guy for him to come back for me and I've never forgotten it. One good turn deserves another in my book.

Thats all I've ever owned until this truck. Better than a cheby though.

The civic probably woulda had me after seein what was under his hood. It was setup right. (except for the weak block) Wasn't typical rice. Somebody had sunk some money into it. Mighta been a better race if I had the 3.92 lsd instead of this 3.55 one legged wonder. I can't get traction for crap. Punch it and it does a magnificent one tire burn out while the other just sits there.

I didn't you that you didn't have LSD. That is supposed to be an easy install. Now the gears are another issue. I'd say don't worry about the gears quite yet.... but DO go for that LSD... It's a saint!

Nope no LSD yet. If I could find it somewhere I would buy it but nobody's been able to tell me where to get it.

you need the R/T on your hood first not some LSD! Stickers make it fast not the parts.

Why do you think all them stickers are on race cars like in NASCAR. The ricers know this little secret

Thats no joke. This is pretty sad... last night my old man came out to the house and we went out to dinner. He wanted to drive my dakota. He's thinkin about buyin one. So I let him and mom take the Dak and I drove my F250 with my roommate and his girlfriend riding shotgun. We pulled up side beside at the light and Dad yelled lets go for it. Sure why the hell not. Had faith in the dak that it could beat the monster. Light turns green we both hit it. Obviously the Dak got the holeshot. My F250 is no slouch... its got the powerstroke diesel in it with the big Banks turbo kit on it. Its puttin out somethin like 400hp and 700 ft/lbs to the ground. But it weighs 7200lbs. Dak weighs like 4400 with me in it. And the diesel is a diesel set up for pullin trailers. He had me until we hit about 25mph... he had like 3 truck lengths on me. I hit 2nd gear and kept the rpms up in the powerband and started to gain. Hit 3rd at 40 and caught him and started to pull. Hit forth at 55mph and my dak is at my back bumper. By the time we hit 70mph I was about a truck and a half ahead. I let off at that point. I wsa happy and depressed at the same damn time. I got beat by a friggin tank. So now I gotta figure out a way to get my truck into the fourteens just to beat my own diesel.

Dad's taken the diesel to the track this weekend. He's pullin a friends blown hemi charger R/T. I told him to run the truck too for the hell of it. Have to start usin the f250 to scare the chit outta camaros and firebirds. Not to mention rice. Course I kind just act like I am changing lanes and they will swerve. God I love big trucks! But it beat my Dak!! :finger:

that's a good story and to think I was just joking around but it really did happen :end:

SSRage
04-01-2004, 06:37 PM
From what I figure I think my dak runs roughly about a 16.4 1/4 mile time. From the feel of the diesel I think its about a 14.5 to 14.8. But its definetly fast. Slow off the line but all of a sudden - BAM!!! Whoosh of the turbo and your butt goes firmly into the seat. If my diesel ever dies I'm putting that turbo into my truck.

DirtyR/T
04-01-2004, 06:41 PM
Why not go ahead and put it in?

SSRage
04-01-2004, 07:18 PM
Umm... because my F250 is still running and will probably out last my Dak. And to get a turbo is gonna be around $2500. I just don't have that kinda cash laying around. That and I don't know if this block will hold up to the kinda pressure that turbo on my diesel is putting out. Its something like 8 - 10 psi normal boost. I believe the max is 14psi... thats the popoff I have in it anyway. Its only popped off once.

DirtyR/T
04-01-2004, 09:06 PM
you could sell the Ford :D and put he money into your dakota
Then you wouldn't have to worry about the F250 whopping your butt :nono:

SSRage
04-01-2004, 09:17 PM
Thats true but the Dak still wouldn't have the balls to pull a 35ft goose neck flat bed. Not to mention the 25ft enclosed goose neck. Course I could put a tow bar on the front of the dak and put it in neutral and hook it to the F250 when I go to the track. Just pull it right along behind me.

You wouldn't be able to use the Turbo from your f250. You don't have enough exhaust to spool it up. I was gonna do the same thing, cuz I can get diesel turbos all day long for cheap. As far as the LSD, if you get one, you HAVE to install new gears. You can use your old ones, but you run the risk of having a terrible HUMMING sound from your rearend. I do believe the scratch n sniff stickers add a little something extra, kinda like nitrous. No power from just adding them, but when you scratch them, WATCH OUT! :D

SSRage
04-09-2004, 11:09 PM
Wasn't gonna use the turbo off my truck anyway... the damn things so big i would have to take the motor out just to put it in there. Plus my F250 still runs like a dream. No reason to screw with perfection.

Well, like I had said before somebody had helped me out once so was just returning the favor. Plus I was afraid the kid was fixing to have an accident and was worried that he might get hurt. Yeah, one of the guys I work with has a 2004 F350 Power Stroke and he's got that somebitch loaded with stuff from Performance Diesel. He said he ran a 14.4 quarter a month agon in 65 degree weather. I told him I need to tie my dakota onto the back of his truck cuz thats the only way my Dak will get into the 14's.
