Excuse me if this is a stupid question. Wouldn't porting my 3.9 TB give the same affect as adding a stock 5.2 or 5.9 for a hell of a lot less money? Or is it gonna be too much of a bitch to put forth the effort?

I've wondered the same thing. Everyone here has told me it will be better, but not as good as a v8 tb. Without modifying the throttle plates and boring out the entirethrottle bores you won't flow as much. A modified stock tb is better than stock though.

If it the throttle plates don't get any bigger then it won't be worth the effort at all.

If you can do all the work yourself, then yes it probably is. But I see the V8 TBs on eBay all the time. There's a F&B 48mm on there today. I have one of those and it works well. Doesn't need the V8 throttle cable either.

I forked up $165 for Hughes Engines to do a V6 TB for me. The shaft is very thin and the smooth, the TB is smoothed, opened and very nice. Instructions are good and, Yes, it made an immediate difference to my performance. I did the V6 TB so I didn't have to buy a V8 throttle cable and fool with installing it. I'm currently following Hughe's instruction sheet to modify my Throttle Position Sensor voltage output. It isn't a 360 V8 but it is better.
A word of warning about e-Bay, I bought a V8 TB from a joker in Florida and he didn't ship it to me. I found out you don't get all your money back when a deal goes bad, and the XXX  still has $25 of mine. Watch who you do business with. I got a spare V6 TB for real cheap ($12) and it's great. :drive:

Next time buy from sellers with decent feedback and try to use PayPal to recoup your money. Still owned by eBay, but more friendly policy.
