rearend gears

I was just wondering if anyone would know what gears i should go with the 456 or the 411.

Since your a newby I will let this slide but give info. What do you have? what are you trying to do? Why do you want to change the gears? ect... Give some info and you will get a better responce and better info coming back to you.

Since you have an R/T which has 3.92 gears, 4.56's would be the only way to go. 4.10's would be a waste of time and money.

YellowKota is right that you really won't notice much of a difference from the stock 3.92's, but do keep in mind that you won't have much fun getting 5mpg on the highway either with the 4.56's (little exaggerated... or is it?). I would only go with the 4.56's if you plan on making an all-out drag truck or rebuilding the tranny w/ different gears for a more convenient final drive ratio.

There's a (comparatively speaking) lot of R/T owners with 4.56 gears - you'll spin up a few hundred more rpm on the highway so your mileage will go down a bit (not a lot though), but your mpg should go up a bit in city driving from not having to romp on it as much.

Stick to 28-29" diameter tires with the gears and you should be just fine.

I vote to make more power and keep your 3.92's. I went from 2.73's to 4.10's on my last Mustang and it was mad fun in the city, but on the freeway it sucked big time. The more power you make the less gear you need. They are right 3.92's to 4.11's will not be worth it.

well sorry for not listing my mods. i have a paxton novi 2000 charger gibbson headers, gibson muffler,msd boost retard, fuel pump with 2 extra injectors, plugs, wires like that,jet stage 2.i i also need need traction bars and or slicks, and dyno tune. when the boost starts kickin up the engine starts knocking like marbles inside of it.
