If your pcm is flashed and go to the dealer, will they see it and reprogram it to stock??

I've had my flash for two years now and haven't had a problem. The dealership shouldn't be flashing anyone's PCM without permission. If I was ever worried about it, I'd just tell them I had it flashed back to factory stock instead of the 'software update' they were handing out that had the 4-degree 'death flash' and that they weren't allowed to reprogram the PCM.

The beer barrel manifolds have had issues with pinging, especially under heavy load or when it's really hot inside (and even more so when the plenum gasket goes bad). Dodge engineers came up with a "software update" that pulls 4 degrees of timing from the vehicle to prevent that detonation from occuring, but it also kills off a bit of your power. Dodge PCM programmers are also known for pulling a lot of timing at the bottom and top of the curve to lessen the shock on the transmissions (The 2002-2003 Rams have this really bad, some people claim up to a .5 increase in the quarter by clipping a wire related to the transmission because the engineers softened it up so bad)

What do you guys think of the Hypertech Power Programmer 3,Part # 50006? These are for the 5.2 and 5.9 engines.
Thanks-

Flashing means overwriting the software stored in static RAM inside your PCM. It's similar to installing an updated driver for your printer.
There are a couple of ways to reprogram the PCM without the dealer. One is to unbolt the computer from your truck and FEDEX it to a speed shop such as B&G Chrysler or KRC Performance. The other is to buy a programmer such as Superchips or Hypertech and plug the cable into your diagnostic port located under the driver side dash. Answer a few Yes or No questions and hit enter.
One other expensive and you-better-know-what-your-doing way is to purchase a software package that you install on a laptop computer. You then buy or fabricate an interface cable and you can 'roll your own' program.

What kind of gains are seen by flashing? What is the potential for damage?

Little bit more pickup. No damage, just have to run higher octaine fuel because of the timing advance. I run 93 and it works fine.

Im taking my truck in this coming week to get my pcm flashed, i just installed the perf pcm and i lost my abs and my e-brake light came on. I too am concerned that they are going to fug it up so when they flash it im going to tell them i dont want any updates, just want my vin and milage flashed into it, hopefully that will solve the problems. i must say this is a heck of a lot better than the hypertech. dont spend money for chips or programers, just get a mopar pcm, youll be thankfull later on.
