Ok tonight i just ordered a PA 3" body lift for the dakota....What have you guys been doing if its a manual, dont have access to a welder, just wandering if you could use some all thread and make something work, or if i even need to do anything, i dont mind it being 3" shorter, just as long as i can shift fine...and what about the radator hose, i just had to replace it with a new one, the old one was longer because i believe there was a body lift on the truck before because the radatior shroud is already cut and the hose is longer than it needed to be for stock height, any one have any ideas of where i could get a longer radator hose?

Thanks Mike

auto parts stores should be able to hook you up. Did you get the gap guards? Do most people with BL on dakotas get them or dont they show too bad?

Depends on the person. I didn't have any on for the first year and a half it was on my truck, but I broke down a few months ago and put some on the rear. I'll probably work on something for the front as well. I made my own for the rear for about $6

Um, along with everywhere else! Definitey get gap guards, you make them, you buy them - it doesn't matter.

As far as your original question - check out your throw on your shifter when you install (shouldn't change much for only 3" - but just in case) - you may just have to do a little "heated" creative bending (MAPP gas is fine, but expect to be painting). The only thing I would suggest if the length of the shifter bothers you - go to any muffler shop and ask how much to weld and extension on. All you need is the piece welded, not smoothed or finished. That's exaclty what I did for the T-case linkage on mine!

Good luck

Thanks for the replies....like i said before there already was one on my truck before i bought i believe, so in the rear there already is some mine belt hanging down, so no worries for the gap gaurds, and like yellow said he did, i can add them down the road if they dont look right...I did keep the old radator hose because i knew that i would need a longer one eventually when i got a body lift, i should have just bought a longer one when i did, its only about 3 weeks old...owell.

where did you order your PA body lift?

www.truckaddons.com Can't beat $160

I had sent them two emails the day before i bought it trying to find out if it included the bumper brackets and i never got them replyed to, so i just went ahead and ordered it, well in the mean time today i just got the email back saying that they do NOT include the brackets, so i called them on the phone and after being put on hold for 20 mins, i talked to a guy and he said the front and back brackets are in the kit, so we'll see when i get it.

I went looking in town for a body lift for my Durango and i found a place where i can buy and get it installed. They want 260 for the body lift and 480 to install it, and it would take 12 hours to do it and they needed it for 3 days? what do you think of that. Thats Bull $#!! I have never heard of this. thats out raggest.. :owned:

That's 40 less than I was just getting ready to spend. Let us know if it is indeed complete with the bumper brackets.

I'll be sure to post up when i get it about those brackets.....i think shipping might be 7 - 10 days, but i'm not positive on that.

Yes, in the PA kit - you get the bumper brackets...at least on my 2k kit I did. The only thing I bought seperately was the gap guards.

As far as putting it on myself...yes, and it took all of 2 days + half a day fitting my 13" meats at all four corners. I had a little help, from a friend, but he side tracked me more than I actually got done. Another thing, make sure you go back and re-tighten the body mount bolts. I did this after 2 weeks and found (2) that had backed out ever so slightly. It's a PITA, but well worth it.

Good luck

CAN YOU TELL US WHAT MATERIAL YOU USED. I AM NOT PAYING 70 DOLLARS FOR RUBBER TO COVER THE BODY LIFT GAP FROM PERF ACC.

Well folks I just ordered my body lift for my 04 Quad Cab and the cheapest place I could find was performancelifts.com, they even beat truckaddons.com

Out the door the price was 223.12, I think they are more expensive for the 03-04's!!! But mine did come with brackets and everything needed. They even had exact part numbers unlike truckaddons.com

GO HERE. They will beat any price!

I called truckaddons.com and spoke with some lady who suprisingly knew what i was talking about, she put me on hold then came back and said she could do it for 300 bucks, I said you are crazy i found them on performance lifts for 223 shipped and the best she could do shipped was 235. So there you go it has to be the year difference. I ordered the 03-04 kit.

WHERE CAN I BUY this mine belt stuff? THanks.

Maybe what i thought was a good deal wasn't good afterall...Its been about 10 days since i ordered the body lift for 160$, I just happened to look at my credit card bill and it says that truckaddons credited the money back to me. Theres nobody in the office till Monday, but i'm kinda thinking they made a mistake about the price because it was the cheapest i could find, and now they withrdew the sale, I didn't get any emails stating this whatso ever...I'm kinda pissed because If it says its 160 and now they wont sale it to me because they make a mistake, i think thats False Advertisement... :cussing: :cussing:

Yup, i hear you, thats what i figured that the company would atleast email and let me know whats going on, not just credit it and not even say a word. I can't wait to call on monday and hopefully get ahold of someone....Who knows, maybe they are out of stock at both places or something, i doubt it, but its a possibility....I think its.. :bs2:

Well i called that original company today and they said it was on back order, i said thanks for telling me that by phone, email, or mail of some sort, i just went ahead and ordered it from this link because they said they had no idea when it would be in stock, i'd rather spend the 40 more dollars and get decent customer service.

Do you have bolts for the bumper in your kit? Check for large bolts with large washers and nuts. If you just have large bolts (body lift bolts) and dont see any large nuts then you dont have bolts for the front bumper.

Kooopsd
02-07-2006, 05:36 PM
It doesn't look like it, the biggest nuts that are there are about 1/2"

You will need to buy 4 Carriage bolts 1.5 inches in lenght with matching nuts and washers or you can but the nuts that flair out that appear like washers, that is what I did but unfortunately I dont have a camera to show you. They should be pretty beefy like 3/8" or 1/2" in diamater at the threads.
